Sparkle Shrimp

Name Sparkle Shrimp
Category Pacific Salmon/Steelhead
Thread Hot Pink
Tail Pearl Flashabou (I used Krystal Flash)
Body Weighted with .035 Lead; Hot Pink Chenille
Hackle Hot Pink Saddle Hackle Palmered Over Body
Shellback Pearl Flashabou (I used Krystal Flash)

The Sparkle Shrimp, is mentioned in Fly Fishing for Pacific Salmon and Flies for Alaska as a successful fly for all species of Salmon and Steelhead tied in various colors. In Flies for Alaska, Anthony Route says that he has had great success with it, but carries just four colors, black, orange, chartreuse an hot pink. The Hot Pink, Sparkle Shrimp, seen here is my favorite for Silver Salmon, Chartreuse for Chums, Orange for Kings. This example is perhaps a bit heavy in the tail (antennae). A little sparser would have made a better fly.
