Chartreuse Carron

Name Chartreuse Carron
Category Salmon / Pacific Salmon/ Steelhead
Hook Salmon Wet Fly, Sizes 1/0-4
Thread Red
Tail Ringneck Pheasant Rump, Dyed Claret, Wound On
Rear Body Chartreuse Floss Ribbed with Oval Gold Tinsel
Middle Hackle Black Saddle Hackle
Front Body Chartreuse Floss Ribbed with Oval Gold Tinsel
Wing Lemon Yellow Mallard Flank
Collar Chartreuse Saddle Hackle

The Chartreuse Carron is roughly based on the Fluorescent Green Shrimp from Peter O'Reilly's fine book, Trout & Salmon Flies of Ireland. I've used colors that are well know attractors for Salmon and Steelhead. Shrimp flies are hugely popular in Ireland which can be attributed for their success in catching fish. The Pattern for the Fluorescent Green Shrimp calls for a Fluorescent Green Floss body; Creamy Badger middle and front hackle; and a roofed Jungle Cock Wing.
