The pattern for this fly came from Ken Hanley’s fine book Fly Fishing the Pacific Inshore.
Mr. Hanley writes in his notes that this fly, which can be used for Pacific
Salmon, can represent Anchovies, Herring, Sardines, Mackerel, Sand Lances or
Candlefish. It works well in open bays, estuaries harbors, rocky shores, kelp
beds or beaches.
