1: Note: Grey heron feathers are illegal to posses in the United States. Use a substitute, like Coot that is close to hereon in color and texture.

2. George Kelson writes about the Gold Riach in his book, The Salmon Fly. Written in 1895, it was perhaps one of the most important book of its time for salmon fisherman and still is considered a must for serious tyers. Copies can still be obtained of the hardcover book, although they are quite expensive.
