This version of the Floozie was tied by Contributing Fly Tyer, John Glaspy. You can see more of his flies for Pacific Salmon at The Flies of John Glaspy. See his notes about this fly below. John's Notes: The Floozie is simply a color modification of the usual egg-sucking leech pattern, a variation which I first saw tied by Robert Souza of Thousand Oaks, California. In sunny weather, this is an excellent fly for all species of Pacific Salmon in Alaska and, in addition, is an equally excellent fly for the rainbow trout often lurking immediately downstream from the larger fish. This makes it a hard fly to beat for overall fun and fish catching when the weather is clear. Because it is as much a trout as a salmon fly, I usually tie the Floozie on smaller gap hooks, size 4 and smaller. When the weather is rainy or overcast, try the traditional egg-sucking leech pattern, with a purple tail, hackle and body and an orange or red chenille egg-head.
