Golden Demon (Kiwi)
This is another fly named Golden Demon tied by Salmonfly.Net Contributing Fly Tyer William Lovelace for the Salmonfly.Net issue "All that Glitters is not Gold". Bill is showing us that much that glitters (as steelhead flies go) is, in fact gold. Read more about William Lovelace and see more of his flies at The Flies of William Lovelace. Bill's Notes: This pattern comes from The Complete Guide to New Zealand Trout Lures by Derek Quillam. Derek notes that originally the fly was an old English sea-trout pattern. The wing is made by folding over a slip of Bronze Mallard feather. The picture of this fly in the fly photo section of Derek’s excellent book shows a tail of Golden Pheasant Tippet. ' |
