Lucas' South Fork Salmon River Spey Adapted from Dr. David Burns original Spey Pattern Dressed by Clark Lucas
Pattern: Lucas' South Fork Salmon River Spey Hook: Alex Jackson Spey, Diachii, 3/0:Shewey, barb pinched before inserted in vise Thread: Griffon's 14/0, Black Body: Underbody Pearsall's Silver Stout to form body, Overbody: Pearsall's Purple Silk Floss, Unistretch Hot Pink floss palmered above Flat Silver embossed medium Tinsel. Tinsel/Tag: Counterwind: small gold Oval Tinsel, Oval Silver tinsel after flat embossed silver tinsel Spey Feathers: 1/2 stripped matched for tip of spey feather insert at rear, Black Jumbo size Blue-earred Pheasant (BEP), palmered 1/2 following from rear forward behind Hot Pink Unistretch, held by weighted hacklle plier. Front 1/2, Jumbo Purple BEP tied in at head usi9ng butt of Spey feather stripped correctly for palmering to meet Black BEP. Counterwind holds it all down and clip excess (for a smaller spey).
. Beard: 1/2 stripped Gadwall tied butt first 3 winds so barbules flow under body. Shellback: Bronze Mallard 1/4" a left and right side strip tied in one at time T.E.
