A Paul Smith Fly
River Stand-Up Leech was tied by Contributing Fly Tyer, Paul Smith. In my previous presentation of this fly (chartreuse version), I erroneously displayed it facing up. The fly, is weighted, though to ride hook side up and as the name implies, almost standing on its head. I thought that this time I should do Paul's fly some justice, by displaying it properly. If you haven't seen any of Paul's Pacific Salmon flies yet, take a look at The Flies of Paul Smith.. See his notes about this fly below. Paul's Notes: This is the newest fly in the River series. It looks great standing up on the bottom. I can't wait to try it on salmon this year. So far, it has caught 4 Smallmouth and 1 nice Largemouth on its first test day. The chartreuse was the best color and I caught one fish on white. I have made it in my basic salmon colors - chartreuse, hot pink, purple, black, and white. It's an easy fly to tie.
