Tonight Troop 1577 bridges from Cadette to Senior Girl
Scouts! We are meeting at Dairy Queen, will walk across the Glen Park bridge and
return to DQ for ice cream. Don’t worry if you missed the meeting, you are
automatically a Senior GS! CONGRATULATIONS!
Chicago Trip
Plans are underway for a great trip to Chicago June 7th
through the 10th. Tonight we will get a final count on participants and will
schedule an extra planning meeting to finalize details. There will be a charge
for Troop members attending who have not participated in meetings or events over
the past year. Chicago is full of sights and adventures: Chicago Art Institute,
Navy Pier, Sears Tower, John Hancock building observatory, Miracle Mile
shopping, deep dish pizza, harbor tours, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum of Natural
History, Adler Planetarium ...
Silver Award Participants Being Honored:
Jill, Jamie and Stephanie will be honored for earning their
Silver Awards at the River Falls Service Unit annual Court of Awards ceremony,
Thursday, May 15th at 6:30. This year’s ceremony will be held in the RF High
School Auditorium. Jill and Jamie have agreed to MC this event this year.
Girl Scout Council of the St. Croix Valley is honoring 2003
Silver and Gold award recipients Tuesday, May 13. This ceremony is at the
College of St. Catherine’s O’Shaughnessy Auditorium starting at 7:30 pm.
Congratulations again!
Pre-Registration and Studio 2B:
There are new Pre-Registration forms for the 2003-2004 year
and girls from ages 11-17 can choose to register for either Girl Scouts or
Studio 2B. Studio 2B is a “bold new direction” for older GS. We will have
some of the information at tonight’s meeting. One difference is that members
of Studio 2B earn charms rather than Interest Patches. You register for either
Senior GS or Studio 2B but can participate in either throughout the year. Dues
have increased to $10 this year.
Rachel Retires:
I will not be active Troop Leader next year; however, Troop
1577 will go on! It sounds like Jill, Jamie and Stephanie are interested in
doing the Gold Award. Anyone else can too. One does not have to have completed
the Silver to do the Gold Award. I will stay a registered adult member and be
available for trips/adventures, if needed.
