Tarot cards can be a witches best friend. They give you advice and wisdom when all else seems to fail. Because of this though, we tend to see them as something that should only be consulted in a serious manner. If you are learning the tarot cards, then you know how overwhelming they can be. Learning the meaning of 78 different cards can be a bit of a challenge. Every once in awhile we need to loosen up and enjoy the cards. Learning is so much easier when your having fun. Listed below are three games that you can play with tarot cards. You do not have to know the meanings or to even understand tarot reading. This is just for fun. No work involved here. I hope you enjoy them.

Who am I?

This game requires the use of the major Arcana only. Shuffle the cards (If your child knows how to shuffle, then let them do it), then place the deck in the middle, face down. Each player takes turn drawing a card. Look at the card and describe what you see in it. It can be in a story version, or if no story comes to mind, just describe what you see. This game gets your child familiar with the cards and gets their creative juices flowing. Not to mention the fact that there are no winners or losers in this game. Just make-believe. Plain and simple.

Mystical Uno

This game is quite similar to the traditional Uno. But in case you are unfamiliar with that game I will explain it. The entire deck is used for this game. Each player draws 5-7 cards. Place the rest of the deck face down, turning one card up. Lets say for example that the two of swords is facing up. The youngest player goes first. If they have a two (of any suit) or any sword card they may lay that one down. If they have a major Arcana card they may also lay that one down (it's a wild card) and they call out what suit and number it will be. If they don't have any of those cards, then they need to draw a card until they have one. When a player is down to only one card they say "Uno". Whoever gets rid of all of their cards first wins.

Go Fish

This game uses the minor Arcana cards only. Each player draws five cards. If they have any cards that match they lay those down. (there are two ways to play this game. One is that to match it must be the same number only. The other way is that for cards to match they must just be of the same suit.) Place all of the remaining cards face down, spread out on the floor or table. The youngest player goes first. They ask one of the other players for a card that they need to form a match. If the player does not have that card they say "go fish" and the player draws a card from the pile. When the first playthose down. (there are two ways to play this game. One is that to match it must be the same Basically, any game you can play with a deck of cards can be used with tarot cards. You simply remove the major Arcana cards and either all of the pages or all of the knights. Playing with your cards will do two things; It will make them more personal to you. For example, by using them more frequently your energy will be more absorbed into them. Also you will become more familiar with them. Using them to play solitaire (for example) causes you to recognize them more quickly. You not only have to see them, but you have to recognize which playing card they correspond with.
