King and Smith patented an improved washer cutter. Patented Oct. 24, 1865, #50,600. Patented by Otis A. Smith and Charles A. King of Middletown, CT. Also, made by Savage & Smith, Globe Manufacturing Co., King & Smith and Otis A. Smith. Middlefield was part of Middletown until 1866.
