Bring on the Dancing Horses [Echo and the Bunnymen; single; November 14th, 1985; 7"] 1. Bring on the Dancing Horses [4:00] 2. Over Your Shoulder NOTES: "Bring on the Dancing Horses" introduced many Americans to Echo and the Bunnymen via the PRETTY IN PINK movie soundtrack. The song was recorded in Brussels with producer Laurie Latham. Artistic merit note: this was also released as a shaped picture disc (Korova KOW 43P) which features a picture of a cow with a pink ribbon around it. KOW 43F came paired with a 7" single of "Villiers Terrace" and "Monkeys" from the August, 1979 John Peel sessions. The US edition of this (Sire 7-28791 -- November 22nd, 1985) backs the title track with "Read It in Books". There is a US 12" promotional-only single (Sire PRO-A-2398) which pairs the 7" version [4:00] with an extended [5:48] remix. vl: Korova KOW 43; WEA 7-248933 (Australian)

The Game [Echo and the Bunnymen; single; June 1st, 1987; 7"] 1. The Game 2. Lost and Found NOTES: The Bunnymen journeyed to Brazil to shoot the video for the title track with Anton Corbijn. "'The Game' was a kind of summary of where I felt the Bunnymen were at. I wanted it to be the key song of the album that said, 'Pride a Proud refusal/And I refuse to need your approval.' That was a way of saying we're coming back and I don't care if you like it." - Ian McCulloch [CREEM MAGAZINE, November, 1987] “The military stopped our car because they thought we were buying drugs. We weren't, but one of us did have coke in the car -- it wasn't me! A military guy saw Ian McCulloch and said, 'Ahhh...the Cure!' I said, 'No, Echo and the Bunnymen.' And the military guy got furious. Suddenly we were taken out of the car, and they were pushing us up against the wall with their machine guns. They let us go, but for a while I had this vision that we'd all get kidnapped and chopped up just because Ian wasn't in the Cure.” -- Anton Corbijn [SPIN MAGAZINE, September, 2005] vl: WEA YZ134
The Game [Echo and the Bunnymen; single; June 1st, 1987; 12"] 1. The Game 2. Lost and Found 3. Ship of Fools NOTES: "Ship of Fools" is a Bunnymen original, not a cover of the Jim Morrison song. Laurie Latham produced the album - opinions vary widely as to the result. The cover shot is by Anton Corbijn. Musical note: Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek plays on this album. ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN is the last album with the original four band members. Ian McCulloch left the group in 1988. He and Will Sergeant resumed working together in 1994, and Echo and the Bunnymen reformed in 1996. But a key player was forever lost. On June 14th, 1989, Pete de Freitas died in a motorcycle accident. vl: WEA WX 108; WEA WE 381 (French); Sire 1-25597 (US - July 14th, 1987); WEA P-13548 (Japanese); WEA 80665 (Argentinean -- los títulos de las canciones son en español)/cs: Sire 25597-4/cd: Warner 25597 The re-mastered ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN (November 3rd, 2003) adds 'bonus tracks': 12.
