Burn For Me [3:42] NOTES: The ad copy for FLOWERS perceptively proclaimed the album as having "the fresh and inventive spirit of CROCODILES combined with the craft of their later work." The Bunnymen duo of Ian McCulloch and Will Sergeant fill out the ranks here with keyboardist Ceri James, drummer Vinny Jamieson and bassist Alex Germains.“There were a few bits and pieces on ‘Flowers’ that were really Velvet-ian but I think Will brought something back as well. He had been very disappointed with the previous album and really talking about leaving. I told him not to be silly; we’d just do another kind of a record; if he came in with guitar riffs I’ll work around him. That’s what we did and it worked really well.” – Ian McCulloch, deo2.com [January 16th,-2002] McCulloch has said his FLOWERS lyrics return to "a loose metaphorical, metaphysical, meta-bollocks approach." [COLUMBUS ALIVE May 17th, 2001] References note: "Buried Alive" makes mention of Surrealist painter Paul Delvaux, Arthur C. Clarke's classic science fiction novel CHILDHOOD'S END, the song "Sweet Jane" by Lou Reed and Dylan Thomas's poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight". The album's cover is a colorized rendition of an 1890's photograph from the book WISCONSIN DEATH TRIP by historian Michael Lesy. Other photos from the book appear on FLOWERS singles. The Japanese edition includes two 'bonus tracks', "Marble Towers" and "Scratch the Past", b-sides to the It's Alright single. There is also a promotional-only cd (Cooking Vinyl COOKCD208P) released in April, 2001. vl: Cooking Vinyl COOK208/ cd: Cooking Vinyl COOKCD208; spinART COOKCD208 (US -- May 22nd,2001).

Scissors in the Sand [Echo and the Bunnymen; single; June 8th, 2006; cd] 1. Scissors in the Sand (radio edit mix) 2. In the Margins (live, Tiscali session) 3. Villiers Terrace (live,-2005 Reading Festival) NOTES: “One of my ambitions is to rubberise sand because I hate the stuff. I don't know why it's there. It's just there for people to sun themselves on but it's handy to have because it's a barrier between the water and... whatever. I hate it, it feels crap. The colour of rubber would look crap as well, so I suppose it would have to probably be sand colour. It would be good to be able to use the rubber to bounce into the water. Picnics would be better too. The wasps wouldn't be so, err...” -- Ian McCulloch [XPRESSMAG.COM.AU]
