Clash of the Elements
“Umm, excuse me, hi Betty. I’m Tobey Kent you may not have noticed me but I sit right in front of you in English class and we’ve been going to this high school together for the last four years," he said nervously and awkwardly.
“My friend’s call me Betty, so you can call me Elizabeth."
“Oh…umm…well anyhow I was just wondering would you like to go with me to the fall formal this year?please?"
“How about…no?" answered Elizabeth Dawn, a very attractive yet spoiled young woman who was surrounded by her group of friends.
“Oh…okay then, well thank you anyhow," Tobey said as he began to walk away greatly disappointed and sadly, tears were beginning to flood his eyes while his throat was dry with being hurt.
"What a loser! Dopey Tobey!" said Elizabeth as she and her friends began to chuckle.
Tobey was still within hearing distance when Elizabeth had said this; he walked faster with his books so that he could get away from her and her obnoxious friends. He quickly wiped away the tears that were forming; he couldn’t let anybody see him like this. Why wouldn’t she go out with him? He was good-looking wasn’t he? No. No, he wasn’t really, not in his own mind. Although he may have thought of himself to be nothing more than most people did, Tobey was special, different, and even a little bit dangerous. Nobody knew about the deep, dark secret that he had, nobody but his mother Michelle. Tobey’s father Elijah had passed away several years ago when he was only at the tender age of thirteen. It was a very hard time to go through for the young man but he tried his best to be as strong as he could for his family. He lived with his mother and much younger brother Matthew in a house in Dark City. The child did not know of his brother’s powers because of his young age. The three lived together in the safer, cleaner part of town since there was much wrongdoing in the heart of the city that would go on every night. Now what was the deep dark secret that haunted Tobey in his nightmares at night?
Tobey Kent was a mutant! He was a superior human being who had the ability to control the element of water! He could do almost anything that he wanted with water! He could change himself into water and become a puddle that could move all by itself even with clothes on. He had the power of controlling the liquid as well. When there was a stream or a river, all he had to do was use his mind and arms to do whatever he pleased with the water. And last but certainly not least; Tobey could even shoot water out of his hands in powerful bursts. His mother first found out about this gift or possibly this curse when her son had just begun to go through puberty. The emotions and hormones that a person feels at this stage in life must have finally triggered the superpowers that Tobey possessed. On that faithful day while playing basketball with his father, Tobey felt very strange; his legs were not holding his weight properly. Soon thereafter, the boy began to break down into water! When this was happening, his father yelled in fear and disbelief while he quickly ran to get help from his wife. By the time he had gotten his wife to come outside, all that was left was a puddle of water on the driveway of their home. Tobey's mother looked frantically for her son but he was nowhere to be found, her husband told her what had happened. She looked at him in disbelief. Michelle couldn't believe it and she ran around the neighbourhood searching for her son with tears in her pretty eyes. It was hopeless, she couldn't find him anywhere but when she finally decided to walk home, there he was being held in the arms of his father. In the time that his mother had been away, Tobey had reformed into his own solid, organic self once again. His mother ran to him and hugged him in relief and happiness. After this life-changing event had taken place, Tobey became sick for several days because his body was still adapting to the powers that were beginning to emerge in him. His father, who was a medical researcher, ran some genetic tests on his son and found that his DNA was different from a normal human being's. Tobey's DNA was genetically dissimilar for some reason; there must have been a mutation when he was developing as a baby. Instead of having nucleotides, which usually make up one's DNA structure, he had water molecules for more than half of the nucleotides. The boy became very afraid of himself and needed to be reassured by his parents frequently that he was normal although this was far from the truth. Several weeks later, Elijah passed away from a sudden and massive heart attack Tobey had an emotional breakdown. He felt anger and sadness at the same time; he used his powers to release water from his arms in his fury. Even though they were only beginning to develop, his "water guns" as he liked to refer to them were strong enough to shatter his bedroom window into millions of tiny pieces. After this had happened and he saw what he was capable of, Tobey decided never to play around with his abilities. He would only use them in emergencies where he could help other people or himself.
Other than this gift and curse that constantly held Tobey down from being normal, he was a respectable, nice-looking young man. People didn't see how good of a person he was on the inside. He was much too shy to speak to people to show them what kind of person he was underneath it all. But the boy had thought that looks weren't everything and that people should be judged on their personality. Why couldn't people do that for him? He had hoped to actually go out on his first date for the upcoming formal but those dreams now seemed to be shattered. Tobey was eighteen years old and he was in his last year of secondary school. His innocence and naïve nature made him look as if he were very young. With his whispery voice, he had an eternal childish quality to him. He would probably look more like a teenager than an adult in several years time. The young man was of average height with a smaller frame than most of the other boys at his school. His body was smaller than he would have liked but it proportioned well with his head. He had brown hair that was combed forward so that his hair looked like a certain boy wizard that everybody in the world knows...Ron Weasly! Tobey's eyes were blue although they were hidden from view by his glasses. His facial features were actually quite nice and good-looking whether he thought so or not.
“It’s only the beginning of the first day of school…and I already blew my chance with Betty. September 2nd, 2013 was supposed to be a great day; instead it’s been nothing like what I had hoped for. She was the first girl that I ever asked out, I can’t believe she just said no like that?" Tobey thought to himself.
As Tobey was walking and thinking to himself, he looked outside to where he could see many boys and girls speaking with one another and felt jealous. Why couldn’t he be popular and cool? Why must he be the one to be a nerd for his entire life? He only had two friends, Leonardo and Michael. Although they were all close and he valued their friendships, Tobey yearned to be popular especially with the ladies. He now felt bitter and angry, particularly at what had just transpired with the girl that he had a crush on. Suddenly, he crashed into a locker door that was powerfully pulled open right into his face and body. Tobey fell onto the floor in surprise and pain as his books fell on top of him; he had no idea what had hit him. Right away, he thought that it must have been that damn bully, who was always picking on him, Joe Smoe. But it wasn’t that barbarian; instead it was a gorgeous young girl that Tobey had never seen in his life before. She was beautiful, absolutely beautiful; Tobey thought that she might have been an angel sent to the earth from heaven to do some virtuous deed. Her face was covered in smooth, delicate skin and her facial features were easy on the eyes as well. She had full luscious, soft lips and her large-round eyes were of a unique, sexy grey colour that made her look as if she were a cat. Her nose was a good balance between sharpness and flatness; it was petite and absolutely adorable. She had shiny dark brown hair that seemed to flow like a river as she was kneeling on the floor beside him and it covered her face.
“Oh my goodness! Are you okay?"
“But mommy I don’t want to go to school today," Tobey said drowsily.
“I’m so sorry, my locker was stuck and I had to pull really hard so that it would open," the girl explained while trying to help him off the ground.
She helped Tobey get up, the young man was still a little shaken up although he seemed to be just fine. He wished that he wasn’t so weak; it did not seem very manly that he was getting help from her to get back up off of the floor. She was actually touching him on the arm; this had to be a milestone in Tobey’s life thus far, he had never had a girl touch him like this before. Girls didn’t like him for some reason although he always tried to be polite and nice. He supposed that girls just didn’t like quiet shy guys as much as confident young men. From what Tobey could tell now that he could see her better, her body was a little bit smaller than most girls just like his…but he was compared to other boys of course. He could see the curves and figure of the young woman now and they were also very nice just like everything else that he had seen. He suddenly felt strange, it must have been love at first sight; there was no other way to explain how he felt at that very moment.
“Oh no, it’s okay don’t apologize. It’s not your fault, I mean accidents happen all the time."
“I’m just glad that your okay, I was afraid that I may have hurt you. I’m sorry, I really am," said the beautiful girl.
“No it’s okay, like I said it wasn’t your fault. Are you new to the school? I’ve never seen you here before," asked Tobey timidly.
“Yes, I’m new here, I just transferred from Smallville High in Kansas. My name is Kristen Lang; it’s nice to meet you?"
“Oh, Tobey, my name’s Tobey. It’s really nice to meet you too I hope you’re liking Shadow High so far."
“I do…but I miss my friends, it’s been hard coming to a new school and all especially since this is my last year. You have to start all over and make new friends plus there’s a whole new large school to get used to," said Kristen a bit sadly."
“Oh yeah, I know what you mean, it’s really hard to adjust so quickly. If you need any help or anything at all, don’t hesitate to ask me. I’d be more than glad to help you out."
“Oh, thank you very much Tobey, you’re so nice. I really appreciate it; I could really use a new friend to be with for this school year," Kristen said sweetly.
“Oh…hahaha…you’re welcome. Its really no problem at all, I was just trying to be nice. Well I guess I better go we’re going to be late for first period if we don’t hurry. I wanted to get a front seat today’s chemistry my favourite class!Umm...hopefully I’ll talk to you later," he said earnestly.
“Sure I’d like that, it was really nice meeting you Tobey."
“It was really great to meet you too. Bye!" Tobey said as he turned around to wave and take one more look at her.
“Bye," Kristen said as she keenly watched Tobey walk away.
Tobey ran to his first class and made it just in time, he took a good seat at the front and waited for the teacher to begin her lesson. All of a sudden, he felt something hit him in the back of his head. He turned around to find whom else but Joe, the person he hated most out of anybody that he had ever met. Not only was the bully unnecessarily mean to Tobey for no apparent reason but also he was rude and crass. He spoke impolitely to everyone that he had ever been seen talking to or spending time with, even his own father. Joe was a very large, incredibly strong young man; by the looks of it he must work out a lot. He would always use his size to intimidate others including Tobey who must've lost a fortune in lunch money to him over the past four years. He was a good-looking young man with an animalistic urge to beat down smaller, weaker boys. He also had a terrible temper although for some reason he always tried to be calm and keep it in check. Tobey had never seen him in a fight before, but then again who would want to fight that monster? Even with all of his faults, people still hung around him for some reason, especially girls including Elizabeth. Tobey hated him for his popularity and would give anything to be strong enough to show him what it felt like to be picked on.
||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*
Right after the first day of school had ended, Tobey was walking towards his locker. Everyone in the school, even the teachers were already gone. Tobey had permission to stay for an extra couple of hours to finish his homework since he had no one to drive him home yet. His mom was still working at that time and he decided he might as well stay at school to finish his work rather than take the bus. Unexpectedly a fist smashed into a locker and an enormous, muscular arm was outstretched stopping him in his tracks. It was Joe, who had a wicked smile on his face. Tobey took a step backwards and was backed up against the locker.
“Yo Dopey, I’ve been waiting for you," Joe said.
“Umm...actually my name is Tobey," he said shakily.
“Whatever man, it doesn’t matter. I just have to ask you one question. Tell me who was that fine chick you were talking to this morning. Damn she was hot!"
“Stay away from her Joe, she’s not the kind of girl who would ever like someone like you," Tobey said angrily.
“What the hell would you know about who she likes and doesn’t like? Huh?" yelled the much larger stronger student who pushed Tobey violently against the lockers.
“Joe please I don’t want to get into a fight with you, I was just saying maybe she’s not your type. I mean you have a lot of girls who admire you already."
“I get any girl I want and I want her! Do you know why? It’s because I’m buff and I’m the stuff, I don’t see you with any muscles buddy! Oh I get it now, you like her don’t you? Well forget about it you loser. She’ll never like you back, your nothing but a little nerd and you always will be!" Joe screamed.
"Why don’t you shut the hell up? And you can go there - "
But before Tobey could finish his sentence, he was pushed into the lockers while his books fell onto the floor at his feet. Instinctively the young man pushed back and even punched Joe right in the face. The bully staggered in surprise but then he quickly lifted Tobey up several inches from the ground and violently threw him from one side of the hallway to the other.
"Ugh!" Tobey whimpered as he landed onto his back.
Tobey looked up in pain and saw something that terrified him. He then realized something horrifying, something that truly scared him to death. Joe was on fire and he was still slowly walking towards Tobey. The bully looked at himself and realized what had happened, this nerd had set off his temper. Joe must have also been a mutant! And he had control over the element of fire! He had accidentally revealed his secret and thought of the only solution he could. He had to kill Tobey Kent; he couldn't let anybody know about this, nobody must know his identity. Tobey could see his fiery red eyes burning a hole straight through him. The flames were so hot that he couldn't stand it anymore; he made the only choice that he could. He quickly shot two large bursts of water from his arms and sent Joe flying across the hall crashing into the lockers. Tobey couldn't stop; he kept spraying water at the evil young man who attempted to kill him.
"AHHHHHHH! Stop!" Joe yelled in agony as the water extinguished the fire on his body. It was excruciating whenever water touched his body when he was using his mutant power.
"You tried to kill me, why should I stop?" asked Tobey who was now screaming.
“Stop…I’ll die!" answered Joe.
Tobey immediately stopped and Joe fell onto the floor with smoke coming from his body yet he looked perfectly fine. He must have been protected from the fire with his superpowers. Tobey walked slowly over to the young man; he went to pick him up so that he could see if he was okay. Suddenly though, Joe seemingly jumped back to life. With an effort he grabbed his enemy by the neck and he drove Tobey's head into a locker. He then quickly began to run away but not before leaving a message for his new arch-nemesis.
“I’ll be back! Now that I know your secret, I think we’ll be seeing each other soon enough," he laughed cruelly.
Joe limped out of the door while Tobey tried to get back up; he leaned against a locker for support, which had been badly dented, with his own head. His body was sore and weary from the first fight that he was ever involved in. He couldn’t believe what had just occurred. Joe was a mutant just like him…he would have never thought for a million years that this would be true. He slowly got up after a few moments and decided something that had been on his mind for a long time. He had always thought of using his superpowers to help others although he wasn’t sure he was ready for it yet. He had had this idea for several years now and even talked to his mother about it a couple of times. His mother was worried for her son’s safety and was afraid that he was too young to fight crime as he had suggested. She did say however that it was a good idea. She only wanted Tobey to wait until he was more mature and fully-grown. Although Tobey even got the okay from his mother he never did try to go out into the city and fight against wrongdoing. He was too afraid that he would get hurt or fail, what if he couldn’t help people or even himself? He wasn’t Superman. But now, he felt that it was his time to become a somebody instead of a nobody, to make a difference in this world. It was time to use his gifts for the common good of society, now more than ever with Joe on the loose.
||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*
“I’m going to do it mom, I know its sudden but I have to use my gifts instead of let them go to waste. I have to catch Joe, I don’t what he’s planning but whatever it is, somebody’s got to stop him," Tobey said seriously.
“Shush…not so loud son, you’ll wake up your little brother and we don’t want him finding out about this. Well it’s your decision, as long as you think that you’ll be safe. Please promise me that you’ll be careful."
“I will mom, don’t worry. I don’t know where Joe could be, he hasn’t been to school for weeks now and even his own parents don’t know where he’s run off to."
“Well son if you’re going to be fighting crime every night, you’ll need a costume…and a name to call yourself," Michelle said.
“How about The Splashing Water-Man?"
“HAHAHA!"
“Why…why are you laughing at your own son?" he asked irritated.
“I’m sorry honey but that was pathetic. Your name is your alter ego; this is the person that you’re going to become. It has to be something better than that," his mother said.
“Then what about The Electrifying Hydro-Man?" Tobey asked again.
“Oh now that’s better son, we’ll have to go design your costume for you. Come downstairs please, you have to help me with it. Luckily I’m a fashion designer, we’re going to make it look amazing I promise."
The two family members worked together on the costume with every spare moment that they could find. Michelle had brought home all of the materials that were needed, which were easily available to her. During this time Tobey also began to work out quite intensely and he built up his muscles slowly but surely. He went to the gym every night for three hours and worked on every body part that he possibly could. If he was going to be a superhero he would have to be much bigger, stronger and tougher than he currently was. After a couple of weeks it was finally finished. Michelle sat her son down onto a chair and lifted off a tablecloth that was hiding the costume, which was on a mannequin. It did look amazing! Tobey was very pleased with it and was glad that his mother was such a good one. He went over and hugged his mother kissing her on the cheek, saying thank you in her ear. The costume was a one-piece suit that was made of a tight material; it covered his entire body including his feet. There were holes in the mask for his eyes and mouth, which was attached to the suit like a hood; its colour was a sleek darker blue that shined brightly. The suit was mostly this colour except for the hands and feet, which were black. In addition, there was a dark cape that was also stitched onto the suit. Above the waist of it, there was a neat H2O symbol, which was yellow; Tobey wanted to put some science into the suit as well.
The next day at school, Tobey saw Kristen walking and quickly ran up to her as he always did for the past several weeks. The two had become friends now and talked to each other quite a bit as they had a few classes together, although Kristen was popular and Tobey was still not. He didn't have many other friends and he was glad to have her as one.
“Hey Tobey!" yelled Kristen from across the street.
“Hi! Good morning," Tobey answered.
“Good morning to you too," Kristen said smiling.
“So did you end up finishing that killer English essay? Oh my gosh I was up so late writing it."
“Me too, I’m so tired. Thank you so much for coming over last night, you really helped me a lot with it. I hope I get a good mark on it."
“Don’t worry, I’m sure you will. You know you’re really smart...and beautiful," Tobey said awkwardly.
“Thanks Tobey, you’re so sweet. I can’t believe you don’t have a girlfriend."
“Oh, well I’m just waiting for the right person to fall in love with and all."
“Yeah, I know. Me too, but I haven’t found that special guy yet," she said.
“You haven't? Oh right…right, of course you haven’t, well I hope you find him soon. Well, I have to go to my locker now, so I’ll talk to you later then?"
“Sure Tobey, I’ll see you later in English and Drama class. Bye!"
“Bye Kristen!"
At the corner of Shadow High, Joe watched on in desire, Kristen was so very gorgeous and sexy. He had been watching ever since Tobey and Kristen had begun to talk, he hated the boy more than ever. Could it be possible that the girl was actually interested in him? The evil young man had been resting from the battle that the two had had over a month now, but more importantly he had been planning. Planning the death of Tobey Kent. He couldn't let anybody know his secret if he was going to be the criminal that he wanted to be. He had already joined the most infamous gang in Dark City, The Devils. The bully couldn't be exposed which was what Tobey could have done at anytime he wished. The authorities would have caught him right away and he would surely be kicked out of the gang. Joe had to get rid of the nerd and knew the perfect bait that would help him do it: Kristen Lang.
||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*||||||||||||||||||||||||||||*
“Hey, Leonardo, James, have you seen Kristen?" Tobey asked.
“No buddy, sorry, I haven’t seen her since this morning," James said.
“I guess she must have been sick and gone home man," Leonardo said.
“That’s weird, I just saw her this morning and she looked fine. Well anyways, thanks guys, I’ll see you later."
“Are we still going to your house tonight to study Tobey?" asked Leonardo.
“I’m sorry guys but I can’t tonight. I’m starting my new job and I really have to see what it’s like, I’ve never even tried it out yet."
“Really? What are you doing man?" James asked.
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you. Bye!"
The two friends looked at each other puzzled and walked away together while they asked each other what might their friend's new job be. Tobey walked away and knew that this was the beginning of his life as a crime-fighter, would he have to patrol the city every single night? Yes, he would have to if he could, he didn's like the sacrifices that he was making already. The young man arrived home at night after taking the bus, he had been looking for Kristen everywhere but he couldn't find her. He opened the door and saw that his mother was watching the news, something interesting must have been on, she didn't even turn around to say hello.
“Hi Mom."
“Honey, Kristen, she’s been kidnapped!" she yelled.
“What?" yelled back.
"The news! Listen to it!"
"This is Christine Yamagucci reporting live! Yet another criminal has appeared here in Dark City and is wreaking havoc already! There is absolute chaos downtown! As you can see many things have been destroyed by fire. Cars, stores, streetlights, the street itself! The police have been trying to stop this man who calls himself The Red Devil, but they have had no success thus far. I have been told that this criminal has taken hostage of a young girl identified as Kristen Lang who was reported missing only several hours ago. Police are hesitant of taking action against this man because they are afraid of possibly hurting the only person who might know the whereabouts of the girl. The offender is wearing some sort of red suit on that can apparently shoot fire out of somewhere; we do not have specific details right now. All we know is that the villain is now hiding out in the Dark Tower. This is Christine Yamagucci reporting live and now I'm getting the hell out of here! Get out of my way you old woman, I'm more important than you are!"
“Kristen."
“Son, you have to go out there and help her! Who knows what that madman is capable of?"
“I’m going, stay here and keep watching the news! They may say something about Kristen!"
Tobey quickly went upstairs and grabbed his bag where his suit was. He went out the door and began to run as fast as he could. It would only take a few minutes to get to the tower if he hurried. Tobey ran as fast as he could, what he wouldn't give for super-speed right about now. None of his superpowers would help him here, transforming into water and moving, as a puddle would only make him slower. Tobey soon saw the tower, which was at least 50 feet tall. It had openings on three sides of the large square surface where people would go to look at the city. He went into a dark alleyway to change into Hydro-Man, he moved as quickly as he could. Soon he was at the tower's entrance and he could see The Red Devil shooting fire at the city from his hands. The superhero transformed himself into his liquid state and climbed the staircase silently but rapidly. Soon he was at the top of the staircase and even as a puddle, he still had eyes to see that Kristen was tied up in a corner of the floor. He reformed into his organic self again and sneaked up on the evil villain. He pulled him around and the Devil was taken by surprise. Tobey punched him as hard as he could and sent him into the wall; a small piece of the tower broke as Joe's massive body hit it. The crime-fighter went straight away to Kristen to see if she was all right. He kneeled down to her and saw that she was unconscious, but he should have never turned his back on his enemy. His arch-nemesis shot fire from his hands and it caught onto Tobey's costume. He quickly sprayed it out with water from his own hands before it spread. But before he could shoot the bully to end this battle, he was punched in the stomach and the air left his body immediately.
"Ugh!" Hydro-Man grunted as he fell onto his knees.
“I knew that you would come Tobey, you’ve always been so naïve. Oh and I’m so glad you did because I’ve been wanting to kill you for a while now."
"Let her go Joe! She’s innocent, this is between you and me!" Tobey panted.
“How about...no?" he mocked.
The Red Devil picked his opponent up on his feet and then raised him up onto his shoulders. The gang member then swung the hero's entire body, with his legs going over the villain's head and smashed him into the back wall of the tower. Dust came flying up as Hydro-Man fell incredibly hard onto the concrete ground crying out in pain. Joe continued to beat down on Tobey; he picked him up and punched him with a devastating uppercut that sent the young man flying into the back wall again. Hydro-man fell face-first onto the ground and cut his forehead on impact with some sharp rocks that had been broken from the wall. His mask was torn apart and the blood was allowed to flow from his forehead. Tobey looked up in pain and the blood began to drip down, he could taste it as it reached his lips. He then looked over at Kristen and she was beginning to wake up, she must have been drugged with something. Tobey couldn't even move, he couldn't use his powers to fight back it hurt just to breathe let alone become water, which took his concentration and effort.
“Have you had enough Dopey? Because I’m just getting warmed up!" yelled Joe.
“Run Kristen," Tobey whispered to her.
“Get up and fight me you weakling. Oh you have no idea how much fun this is!"
The Red Devil then kicked the hero in the ribs and Hydro-Man went shoulder first into the wall once again. The villain kicked the superhero again and again until he thought of a better way to hurt his enemy. Joe picked him up and dragged him along to the staircase. He put his arm under Tobey's and with all his strength he flipped him towards the flight of steps. The boy flew above seven feet towards the steps, turning over onto his back in mid-air for a couple of seconds before he landed onto the concrete stairs.
“AHHHHHHH!" Tobey screamed as he flew.
The boy rolled down the staircase very hard and he moaned in pain. His bones were being broken until his back hit a wall, which held him from falling down another flight of steps. The Devil walked methodically to Tobey and lifted him up by the arm; he began to drag him up the stairs one by one. There was a trail of blood that was left from Hydro-Man's forehead and mouth, which was also now bleeding profusely. Kristen was now awake and saw what was happening, she tried to get up but her legs and hands were tied together. She looked on in horror as she saw the person who had kidnapped her drag another masked man on the floor. She began to crawl as best she could towards the staircase but was stopped by a fireball that hit the ground in front of her. The villain then made a high ring of fire around the girl so that she could not escape. Then the criminal picked up his enemy and put his large, thick hands around his neck. He carried the brave young man to the centre side of the tower, which overlooked the entire city. He carried the hero over the ledge and dangled him in mid-air, toying with his life. He pulled Hydro-Man in and gave him one last hard head butt to hurt him even more.
“Goodbye Tobey, it’s been fun while it lasted. But I’m afraid you’ll have to die now. I’ll be able to do whatever I want with Kristen, I think you know what I mean," Joe laughed.
Suddenly, Hydro-Man was filled with rage. He digged deep down inside of himself and pulled the last bit of strength that he had. He then kicked the evil man with both legs and jumped onto the ledge. He stood there for a moment and then jumped as far as he could while outstretching his legs once again kicking the evil man. The hero landed on his back once again but quickly got back up onto his knees. The Red Devil staggered into the back wall stunned, then the superhero shot out two powerful bursts of water into the heart of the villain.
“NOOO! Stop!" yelled The Devil.
“You stay away from her!" Hydro-Man screamed.
Tobey continued to shoot out his powerful sprays of water and smoke rose from Joe's body, which was being pushed in mid-air into the wall. Tobey couldn't stop, his anger had overtaken him and he continued with his assault. He moved closer to his arch-nemesis and pushed the villain higher and higher. He quickly positioned himself underneath Joe, and used his water guns to push him crashing into the ceiling of the tower. Finally, Tobey stopped and his arch-nemesis dropped over ten feet from the ceiling onto the ground right onto his chest. The superhero ran over to Joe and dragged him to his feet. He began to punch him again and again while kneeing him hard in the stomach as well.
“Ugh!" Joe grunted as he was punched once again.
“Help me please!" coughed Kristen who was still surrounded by fire.
Hydro-man gave one last punch to the Red Devil before using his gifts to put out the fire and cool down the girl as well who must've been burning up. He quickly ran to her and carried her as far away from the villain as he could, who was still lying face down on the floor unconscious with dark smoke rising from his entire body. Eventually the two made their way down the stairs while helping each other walk to the entrance of the Dark Tower. Tobey's costume was a mess and his mask was tearing apart by the minute. But luckily it was only torn at the forehead revealing the top of his head and hair. The two then held each other in their arms for a moment, she was all wet from head to toe and Tobey looked into her eyes while beads of water rolled down her beautiful face. Although Kristen didn't even know who this man was, she felt safe with him and continued to hold on.
“I have to go, you’ll be okay now, the police should be coming," Tobey said in a much deeper voice than how he would normally speak.
“No, don’t leave, who are you?"
“I’m The Electrifying Hydro-Man," he answered as he slowly walked off before the police could see him.
“Thank you Hydro-Man!" Kristen yelled as she slowly sat down to rest from the experience that she would never forget for the rest of her life.
The superhero walked out of sight from Kristen's eyes and went into the dark alleyway where he had left his clothes. He grabbed them and then transformed himself into water so that nobody could see him. For the rest of the night, the hero slowly made his way home as a puddle.
"This is Christine Yammagucci reporting live from the scene of the worst crimes we've seen in quite a while. As you can see almost everything in this area has been destroyed by the villain known as The Red Devil. This criminal has been identified as Joe Smoe, a student that attended Shadow High Secondary School. He was found unconscious in the Dark Tower and has been arrested by the police. He is currently being held at the Dark City Police Station for questioning. The police have told us that he is being charged for kidnapping, arson, vandalism, and property damages, his trial will reportedly begin as soon as possible. The girl that he kidnapped, Kristen Lang was rescued by another mysterious masked figure, who reportedly calls himself Hydro-Man. The girl is now resting at home with her family and is apparently doing fine. Reporting live from downtown, this is Christine Yamagucci now back to you guys."

Kristen missed a couple of days of school because of what had happened on that fateful day. When Kristen went back, she found out that Tobey had already missed three whole days of school. She was beginning to get worried at what might have happened to him. She decided that she would go to his house after her final class to see if he was okay.
“Kristen!" Tobey’s mother said in surprise as she went to hug her.
“Mrs. Kent, hi!" Kristen replied happily.
"Oh my gosh, well you look great. I’m so glad that you weren’t hurt in that tower."
“Me too! If it weren’t for Hydro-man I might not be here right now. I really have to thank him someday."
“You’re lucky that he just appeared in the city all of a sudden."
“Yes I know I am. Mrs. Kent, is Tobey here? I would like to talk to him please," Kristen asked.
“Oh…sure…go outside onto the porch and I’ll just go get him out of bed, he’s been sick for the past couple of days."
The young teenager walked outside and sat onto the swinging loveseat waiting for Tobey to come out. After a couple of minutes, the door opened and Tobey walked out smiling at her, he had a bandage on his forehead.
“Tobey! Are you okay? What happened to you?"
“Yes don’t worry, I’m fine. I was just walking on the road and I accidentally tripped, I fell onto my head and got cut."
“Oh...well I’m glad your okay. You weren’t at school for a couple of days now and I just wanted to come by to see if everything was all right," Kristen said furrowing her brow.
“Thanks Kristen. You didn’t have to come by, I’ll survive I just caught a cold a few days ago and that’s why I didn’t go to school," Tobey lied.
“Well, I also came by to talk to you...about something."
“Oh...what is it Kristen?" Tobey asked gently.
"W-when I was up there in that tower, I was more afraid than I had ever been in my entire life. I didn’t know what would happen with that madman, he kept saying that he loved me and wanted me. I thought that I have would be raped and then killed by him and I began to cry. I thought of my family, my friends, and then I thought about you," she said while beginning to weep.
“Kristen, it’s okay please don’t cry. Everything will be back to normal soon, I promise you."
“No Tobey, let me finish. I thought about you and I realized how much I care about you. The only true regret that I would have had was if I died and didn’t tell you how I really felt. That day when everything happened and I said that I hadn’t found the right guy yet, that was just a lie. I didn’t want to tell you how I felt because I was afraid that you wouldn’t return my feelings. But now I know that life is too short to hold anything as important as this back. From the first day that we met, you have always been there for me and you treated me as well as anybody ever has. I just wanted to come here today and tell you that I love you Tobey I truly love you. And I just wanted to know how you feel about me."
Tobey was in a state of shock. How could she be in love with him? She was so beautiful and kind, was this just a wonderful dream that he was having? He quickly pinched himself to make sure that this was actually happening. Ouch! His arm was still hurting from his battle with Joe but more importantly, Tobey realized that this was no dream, it was reality.
"Kristen…from the first moment that I saw you…I was in love with you. You are the most beautiful girl that I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes on. When I’m around you, when I talk to you, I feel absolutely comfortable and that’s something I’ve never felt with any girl before. You make me feel good about myself and you showed me respect and that’s something that I can never thank you enough for. I already knew then that you were truly special and that you were the only woman that I could and would love for the rest of my life. I love you Kristen, I have always loved you and I will always love you," Tobey whispered.
The two slowly went to each other and embraced. They held one another for a long time and both had tears of happiness in their eyes. Tobey's mother watched them from the porch window and was truly happy for her son and his new love. She felt that this was the beginning of a new life for her son. Michelle walked away from the window and went to help Matt with his homework. Tobey and Kristen slowly separated moving only inches away from each other. They then kissed each other passionately and they both felt a new sensation that was pure bliss. Their lips finally moved apart after several moments and they looked into one another's eyes.
"I have a secret to tell you."
"Yes?" Kristen asked.
"I’ve never kissed a girl before so if that was bad, it’s not my fault."
"Hehehe, don’t worry Tobey. It was amazing and we’ll have lots of practice together so that you can get better," Kristen said sexily.
The two then slowly walked into the Kent home while holding hands. That night Tobey asked Kristen to stay for dinner and they all ate together as a family. It was the first time in a long time that Tobey was truly happy with his life. He had fallen in love with the girl of his dreams and had had that love returned. He had become the man that he wanted to be, the superhero that he dreamed of becoming. He would help people and society for as long as he possibly could. Tobey Kent had become The Electrifying Hydro-Man and would continue to be so for many years to come.
