Illinois 49 is a north-south route in eastern Illinois, from a point in Iroquois County all the way south past I-70 to end in Willow Hill.

Intersections from north to south:

IL49 begins in northern Iroquois County, where US45 and US52 split up

US24 at Crescent City

IL9 at Rankin

US136 joins IL49 south for a short distance near Armstrong,

Then US136 breaks off to head east again

I-74 near Fithian

IL49 joins US150 west near Fithian

IL49 breaks off of US150 at Ogden

US36 near Newman

IL133 near Borton

IL49 joins IL16 westerly at Kansas

IL49 breaks off of IL16 to head south again

I-70 near Casey

US40 at Casey

IL33 near Willow Hill

IL49 ends abruptly in the town of Willow Hill, in southeastern Illinois.

It passes through these towns: Crescent City, Cissna Park, Rankin, Ogden, Homer, Allerton, Brocton, Borton, Kansas, Westfield, Casey, Yale, Hunt City, and Willow Hill.
