Harold Carter--Orvil Carter--William Francis Carter--Francis Marion Carter--Eleanor Lemmon...
John Lemmon Jr. (born March 31, 1778 in Harrison, Indiana--died ?) and
Millison Foster (born April 14, 1778 in Baltimore, Maryland--died September 4, 1855 in Harrison, Indiana)

John was born during the American Revolutionary War to John Lemmon and Sarah Stansbury when his father was 37 and his mother was almost 42. He was the eighth of 10 children, most of the rest of whom were born in Virginia although his family was originally from Baltimore. His family was extremely wealthy, with his father owning several plantation and numerous slaves.

Millison was also born in 1778 during the American Revolutionary War to John Foster and Elanor Barney when her parents were 40. She was the youngest of 10 children, all of whom were born in Baltimore.

John and Millison married December 22, 1795 in Baltimore when they were both 17. They had 10 children, Eleanor being the second. Other children included Joshua (born 1796 in Baltimore--died?); Elias Clay (born 1801 in Baltimore--died 1847 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana); Alexis (born 1804 in either Harrison or Baltimore--died?); Sarah (born 1803 in either Harrison or Maryland--died 1860 in Sullivan, Indiana);Rachel (probably born 1805 in Nelson Co, KY--died 1842); David (born 1808 in Baltimore--died ? in Hamilton, Ohio);Issac (born 1813 in Baltimore--died 1898 in Reholiosti, Indiana); Marieta (born 1816 in Baltimore--died?),and Wilson W. (born 1819 in Harrison, Indiana--died 1853 in Harrison). After marriage, they lived in Maryland, where Eleanor and her three brothers were born, then moved west to Indiana sometime between 1803 and 1805. They evidently returned to Baltimore in 1808, where their last three children were born. John died sometime after 1816, and Millison died in Harrison, Indiana in 1855 at the age of 77.

Harold Carter--Orvil Carter--Ida Jane Rice--Amelia Vance Pennington--Mary Ann Henry...
Robert Henry (born 1755 in North Carolina--died ?) and
Jane Brank (born December 30, 1759 in Burke Co, North Carolina--died ?)

We don't know anything about Robert's background. Jane was born in 1759 to Robert Brank and Mary Abernethy when his father was about 45 and her mother about 39. We aren't sure when they were married, if there were children other than Mary Ann or when and where they died.

Harold Carter--Mabel Elizabeth Riggs--Lucinda Ellen Coons--Anna Maria Batorff...
Johann Martinus Battorff (born October 13, 1747 in Bethel, Berks Co, Pennsylvania--died 1792 near La Grange, Oldham Co, Kentucky) and
Maria Barbara Hautz (born July 30, 1748 in Berks, Pennsylvania--died 1820 in Oldham, Kentucky)

Johann, the second of seven children born to Johanna Adam Batdorf and Anna Catherine Zeller, was born in 1747 when his father was 27 and his mother 22. Like all his siblings, he was born in Bethel, Berks Co, Pennsylvania.

Maria, the fourth of 11 children born to Phillip Lorentz Houtz and Anna Eva Walborn, was born in 1748 when her father was 34 and her mother 28. Like all her siblings, she was born in Berks, Pennsylvania.

Johanna and Maria were married on December 31st, 1769 when he was 22 and she was 21. The children were: Maria Christine (born 1771 in Berks, PEnnsylvania--died?);Martin (born 1773, in BErks; died 1860 in Washingon, Indiana); Eva Elizabeth (born 1774 in Berks--died?); Anna Maria (born 1776, Bethel Twp.--died 1844 in Clark Co, Indiana); George Potturff (born 1778 in Hagerstown, Maryland; died 1850 in Bartholomew, Indiana); Jacob (born 1786 in Hagerstown; died 1870 in Clark, Indiana); Catherine (born 1790 in Hagerstown; died?); Henry (born 1790 in Berks; died 1850); Barbara (born 1792 in Hagerstown; died?); John (born 1794 in Hagerstown; died?); and Andrew (born 1796 in Hagerstown; died?).

It appears from these birth records that Johanna and Maria lived in Berks until about 1778, when they moved to Hagerstown, Maryland. At some point they moved to Oldham, Kentucky, where he died in 1792 at the age of 43 and she in 1820 at the age of 72.
