THE BEAST KILLS IN COLD BLOOD (VG+) (1971) Starring Klaus Kinski. The most complete version of Slaughter Hotel. Set at a remote mental institution (inexplicably located in a castle), the film features Klaus Kinski as a doctor whose mostly female patients are being brutally dispatched by a psychopath. Very loosely based on the crimes of Chicago mass-murderer Richard Speck (who actually killed student nurses and not patients). DVD-R VHS
COUNT DRACULA (VG) (1977) 150 min. This British production of Bram Stoker's Dracula is the best I've seen. Very true to the original story and beautifully done. DVD-R VHS
THE DARK (VG+) (1979) Starring Kathy Lee Crosby. Excellent special effects make this beheading alien film a blast. DVD-R VHS
DOOR INTO DARKNESS VOL. 1 (VG+) (1973) Italian w/ English Subtitles. 2 episodes in Dario Argento's groundbreaking 1973 TV series that he introduced like Alfred Hitchcock. EPISODE 1: Il Tram and EPISODE 2: Testimone Oculare (Eyewitness). Both episodes are directed by Argento. DVD-R VHS
DOOR INTO DARKNESS VOL. 2 (VG+) (1973) Italian w/ English Subtitles. 2 episodes in Dario Argento's groundbreaking 1973 TV series that he introduced like Alfred Hitchcock. EPISODE 1: I Vicino di Casa (The Neighbor) directed by Luigi Cozzi and EPISODE 2: La Bambola (The Doll) directed by Mario Foglietti . DVD-R VHS
EXECUTIVE ACTION (EX) (1973) Starring Burt Lancaster. Before Oliver Stone's JFK, there was this little known jem from the 70s. A group of right wing businessmen and politicians get together to take back America by putting together an operation that will assissinate John F. Kennedy. This film was so controversial that it actually disappeared; someone didn't want these ideas floating around. Eventually the film was slowly leaked out. A must see for the conspiracy fiends. DVD-R VHS
ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS (VG) (1958) French w/ English Subtitles. Directed by Louis Malle. One of the great forgotten French New Wave films. With the famous Miles Davis, improved score running throughout, Malle follows this film with amazing camera work. A woman and her lover want to kill her husband, but he leaves evidence behind that may put the police on their back; 1950's Paris never looked better. DVD-R VHS
THE INCIDENT (VG+) (1967) Starring Martin Sheen and Donna Mills. A group of young thugs terrorize the subways with racism and hate. The scenes of attacks on innocent people are disturbing and violent; this added with the realism of the film, makes The Incident a difficult one to get out of your head. DVD-R VHS
THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THE DARK (VG) (1977) Starring Paul Naschy. People are trapped in a castle, that's right a castle, and a virus has plagued the outside world. The sick are foaming and pisssed. Sounds like a political satire wrapped in Night of the Living Dead. DVD-R VHS
SHADOW OF THE HAWK (VG) (1976) Starring Jan Michael Vincent. A young man must reluctantly come to grips with his heritage. Jan Michael Vincent is very good in this role as Hawk, the grandson of a Native American medicine man, played by the venerable Chief Dan George. He must return to his tribe to safeguard them from an evil spirit. Along the journey through absolutely beautiful Northwest woods, Hawk, his grandfather, and girlfriend must face attacks from both spirit and flesh foes. An exciting and sometimes rather spooky road-trip. DVD-R VHS
SOLE SURVIVOR (VG-) (1970) The ghosts of soldiers passed plan to expose a General as a coward who deserted them before their tragic end. An eerie film with a classic Twilight Zone feel. DVD-R VHS
YOUNG DRACULA (G+) (1975) Directed by Lucio Fulci. This goofy vampire comedy spoof of the story of Dracula is hilarious in many ways, one of which is the dub translation that completely distorts the jokes. Give it a try for a double layer of comedy. DVD-R VHS
