Shune groaned as somebody knocked on her door. She didn’t move to get up or even call to see who it was. Shune merely laid still on her bed with the blue egg near her. It wasn’t until she heard a voice call, “Shune? Are you okay?” That she opened her eyes and gazed about. “Shune?” The voice sounded worried after a few seconds of trying to wake herself up Shune recognized it as Netad.
“Yes! I am here!” Shune yelled to Netad. “Hold on!” She said and quickly hid the egg. Slowly Shune opened the door to see a worried looking Netad standing there. “Hello Netad.”
“Hi Shune,” said Netad. “I’m glad to see that you’re okay. I was just wondering where you’ve been.”
“Resting.”
“Right. Umm.. Yeah. I got that. Well I’ll best be off now.” Netad said and turned around.
“Wait a second.” Shune said suddenly. “Come in.” Once Netad was inside of her room she turned to him and said, “We must get everybody out of here.”
Netad was confused. “How are we supposed to do that?” He demanded. “Shune. I know that it would be the best for everybody if we all up and left this place, but where would we go? How would we get there?”
“I know. I know! I hadn’t really gotten all of that planned out, but I needed to tell you that I plan to get these kids out of here if it’s the last thing I do.”
“It may very well will be the last thing you do.”
Shune sat down on her bed and sighed. “I wish that that Than was still here.”
“He’s gone?”
“Yes, but I wish he hadn’t left.”
“Why? You don’t need his help.”
“Perhaps, but he seems to want these kids out of here as well. Something has taken him away for now, but I have a feeling he shall be back.”
Netad growled, “He doesn’t want to help. I’d be very happy if I never saw him again.”
“Do not say that. He does want to help and I believe we could use all the help we can get.”
“I say he doesn’t want to help and we don’t need his help.” Netad said and nodded his head once just sort of prove his being right.
Shune was about to saying something more, but instead she shivered violently. Turning to Netad she asked, “Is it just me or is it getting abnormally cold in here?”
“It is cold.”
“A bit? Its like we don’t have heaters anymore.”
“We don’t.” Netad said and Shune gave him an odd look. “They shut off the heating system in the buildings. Its only cold now because its in the morning, but it should get a bit warmer. Though not like it would get if it was summer.”
“It’s getting to be the beginning of winter. Why would they shut them off now?” But before Shune had fully asked the question she had a good idea of what the answer was. They were hoping some might die from the cold most likely.
Netads thoughts were like Shune’s, but he didn’t say so. He merely shrugged. “It’ll get cold at night, but we’ll be fine.”
Shune nodded. She would be fine and so would Netad. The cold didn’t really bother them much, but others weren’t going to be fine. Shune’s eyes widened just then at the thought of the blue egg hidden in her room. Eggs are supposed to be kept warm. Shune then looked at her clock. “It’s not morning.” She said to Netad. “It’s 1:30. Why is it still cold?”
Netad shook his head not really able to give Shune an answer. “I don’t know.” Was all that he said to her.
“I must get something to eat.” Shune said. “Would you go see if there is anything to eat available? And if so save me something please?”
“Sure.” Netad said and went to the door. “See ya in a bit.”
Shune nodded to him and as soon as he was out the door she ran to grab the blue egg. She was startled to find that the egg was already growing cold. Putting the female egg into a chair she wrapped every blanket she would find around it and put her pillows on the sides. “I hope you stay warm. I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
The day was boring for Shune and seemed to drag on forever until finally she got back to her room. Quickly as soon as the door was shut behind her Shune ran over to check if the egg was warm or not. She was happy to see that it was, but she was worried about what it would be like at night.
As the night dragged on Shune found herself huddled up against the little egg trying to keep it warm while she scribbled plans of how to get out in her small notebook. Finally at 11:36 Shune decided to get to bed. It was colder than Shune had thought it would get, but with all of the blankets surrounding the egg along with Shune’s warmth Shune thought the egg should be okay. At 3:13 am Shune found herself shivering and the egg was of medium temperature. “I hope you don’t get to cold.” Shune said after opening one eye from being woken up from being cold. Shune got a small little feeling that the egg wanted her to take a blanket for herself but Shune shook her head. “No way. You’ll get cold. I’m going to sleep now. Stay warm little egg.”
The next day when sunlight poured itself into Shune’s room she yawned and looked at the little egg. Shune smiled and felt that the egg was warm enough that she didn’t think it was in trouble. “Good. You did as I said and stayed warm.”
Shune got up and sighed, “What am I to do?” She asked herself bringing up the plans she had been working on the night before. She raised her eyebrows at the egg sitting wrapped up in blankets next to her. “Why do I get the feeling that even though you’re an egg you still know everything that is happening?”
Shune could almost picture this little creature smirking at her and saying, “Well its because I do know what’s happening.”
“Another day.” Shune said quickly getting around. “I wish it was another day in a different place. If that makes any sense at all. I wish I know more about you,” said Shune to the egg. “I mean. What exactly is this Bishen Realm? What are you going to be like? When do you hatch? I know a few things, but not as much as I would like. Who are your parents? Do you even have parents?” Shune got the feeling that the egg was a bit mad at being asked if she had parents. “Well I suppose you’d have to, but that brings me back to who are they?”
The little wyrm inside the egg actually frowned though Shune didn’t know this. In truth the Bishel was sad about not being able to be with her bondmate and her family at the same time. She knew however that she had to help Shune and had to help the others, somehow. What these people were doing was wrong and the little wyrm knew that right from the start. Suddenly the wyrm got an idea to hatch right then and there, but she couldn’t, she knew she wasn’t ready and to hatch earlier than she was ready would not be good. Devgan’s daughter just seemed to want to make Shune happier, along with the rest of the sad people she felt around her.
Shune sighed again, she seemed to do that a lot. “I ask the same questions about myself. Sure. I may have a record, but I don’t know who my parents were. I don’t really know if I even had any parents. I wish that somehow, someway, I could know more about you and your kind.” As if answering Shune’s wish a small rolled up piece of paper practically appeared out of nowhere. It ended up scaring Shune half to death and instantly Shune made a shield around herself and the egg. Seeing it was a mere piece of paper Shune calmed. Cautiously Shune reached towards the paper and grabbed it. Beginning to read it she found tons of information. “Wow.” Shune muttered and began to read.
It had the history of her egg’s kind, Bishel Dragons. It had different varieties and it also had a family tree type thing. “Devgan and Gunnhild.” Shune whispered. “Your father and mother.” She got a feeling of happiness in her mind at the mention of these names. “I suppose my wish was granted. Strange though how that paper appeared. Perhaps this Bishen Realm can get anything to anywhere, anytime.”
Shune blinked. “According to this though. You should hatch fairly soon,” said Shune. “When though? I do not mean to be impatient, I am just excited and curious. Curious as to what you will look like and act like and be like and sound like and,… I’ll stop now.”
A tear slipped down Shune’s cheek as she thought to herself. A feeling in the back of her mind kept telling her to stop crying, but she didn’t stop. She kept thinking about lives lost and never able to come back. She wasn’t old, nor was she young. Shune didn’t look old and she wasn’t, but sometimes she felt like she was as old as the universe in which she lived. “Perhaps this is self pity, but why couldn’t thing have not been like this? I don’t understand why this is happening.” She wiped the tears away frantically and turned back to the egg. “I’m glad I have you with me though.” Shune got the impression that the egg was happy to be with Shune. After all Shune was the egg’s bondmate and now that Shune fully understood about Bishel Dragons she knew of a thing called a Shantel that she had to somehow go to. That was far off though, when her Bishel was a Shrape. Her dragon friend was not even yet a wyrm so Shune decided to take things one step at a time. “Another day.” Shune said as she had before. “I better go now little egg.” Before she left though Shune stopped and said.
Shune ended up returning earlier than usual for her that day. “Today was a short day.” She explained to the egg although she was sure it didn’t really care, it was just happy she was back. “A plan in my head I have.” Shune said and blinked at the way she had said that. Shrugging she continued, “I mean I have a plan. It’ll be crazy, it’ll be wild, it’ll be,..well, I don’t really know how it’s going to work, but I,” said Shune then she paused. “I think it will work.” She frowned and bit her lower lip as she sat down on her bed. “I shall have to get everybody together. I hope they all follow me. I sometimes doubt my being able to lead these children.” Shune got a small feeling like something wanted to say, ‘You can lead them. You can.’ Shune then smiled weakly at the egg getting the feeling it was the little egg wanting to say those words. “We shall have to act as soon as possible. I have a strange feeling something bad may happen if we don’t though I have these feelings sometimes and nothing happens. I hope for you to hatch before we start this plan of mine, but if you are not yet ready I understand. Hatch when you are ready.”
Shune got up and began to scribble down all of her plans in her little notebook. “Later I shall call for Netad so that we can get the news to everybody. We would have had 206 to take care of, but from latest deaths in the past 5 years we are now left with 56,” said Shune frowning. ‘Why so many so fast? Did they just want a small army of the most powerful?’ Shune asked herself then muttered. “That could change though.” ‘It usually does every once in a while.’ Shune though and went back to scribbling her plans occasionally nibbling on the end of the pen while the egg sat on the bed waiting for her time to hatch.
