A fairly loud sound erupted throughout Shune’s room as the clock came to saying 6:15 am. It was music that filled the air, not calm peaceful music, but rather blaring music. “Blast.” Muttered Shune as she lifted her head from her desk. “Fell asleep while planning.” She yawned and looked down at what she had on the desk. The plans were all set out as perfect as Shune could make them. Smiling she looked at the clock and in an instant the music no longer filled the room. “Good morning.” She said not looking at the little egg. Instead Shune trotted off to get ready for the new day. She had planned that she would tell everybody what was happening today. Hoping all the time that none would let word slip of their plan to the seniors also she hoped they would agree. Netad had said they would follow her and Shune even got that feeling from her little egg, but she was still unsure.
“I’m going to go out and speak with Netad,” said Shune walking towards the door. Shune didn’t see the egg for it was covered but with one final look towards it she went out the door. “Today is swimming first.” Shune muttered remembering that she still was supposed to laps in the morning with the others. Every type of physical activity there was known was available at the facility. Today was swimming, yesterday was climbing.
A small girl who only had a few laps to do watched Shune curiously while a boy next to her said, “444, 445, 446, 447,…” Counting how many Shune had done around the entire pool. Netad was done with his couple hundred and sat beside the two. “464,..” Shune was almost done. When Shune struck 500 a while later the boy said, “She keeps going and going and going.”
“Yup. Shune’s just,.. Shune.” Netad said smirking and watched as Shune kept swimming even though she was done. Suddenly the lights in the entire area flickered off. Shune stopped swimming and stared around in the darkness. Sighing she realized that a little kid was pulling a prank again and she called for the lights to be on again. Netad smiled knowing it was Shune who brought the lights back on. He didn’t really understand it, but somehow she had a power over objects and was able to make them do anything she wanted. He had a small feeling that she could do the same with humans or other creatures, but he wasn’t sure. Even if she could do such a thing he had the feeling she never would. That was Shune. So far everything he knew she was capable of was the following. Shields, knocking people unconscious though Netad knew she could kill, but she didn’t. Shields, control over objects and possible even other living things. Music started to fill the air as Shune climbed up a diving board so that she could dive back down into the water. Netad kept smiling, he knew that Shune made the music come. As she got up to the top she gazed down at everybody. A smile was upon her. Shune truly looked happy for a few seconds, but then confusion swept across her face. She shook her head and dived then. Twisting through the air she plunged into the water like an arrow. Netad scratched his green hair with his blue eyes looking around curiously waiting to see Shune’s blue haired head pop out of the water.
It was a few seconds later that Shune burst through the surface of the water. She smiled at Netad and said, “Good morning. I wish to speak with you later by the way.” She said while grasping the side of the pool. Smiling Shune didn’t wait for a response from Shune instead she dived underwater and went away.
Running was after swimming. Everybody ran around and around and around the large building until the person in charge told them to stop. That normally wasn’t for a while so Shune ran beside Netad carefully whispering a few things she had planned. “You know have to get out. I’ve said that, but I have an idea.”
Netad raised an eyebrow at her, “You do?”
“Indeed, yes. I do. I must speak with you later about it. Now isn’t that great of a time.” Beside a small girl with purple hair dropped behind showing signs of exhaustion. Shune frowned and got behind the girl giving her a small push forward. “Keep going. If you wear down they’ll just make you go for longer.” The girl took a deep breath and did as Shune said. “You’ll be fine.” Shune said to the girl before catching up with Netad.
“Over worked.”
“Perhaps.” Shune said at Netad’s statement. “She can go for a lot longer though. She just does not see logic in this, for I do not either, but run until I am told not I shall. Do not worry. I said I have a plan.”
“Okay Shune.” And they both kept running.
It wasn’t longer after that they stopped the running. Many went to get drinks while Shune stood next to Netad. To Netad she looked like she was ready to do thousands of jumping jacks. Maybe it was merely the fact that Shune was excited about her plan. It was lunch in a few minutes and after that they’d probably have to get to talking about this plan of Shune’s. Shune wanted to get out tonight if that was at all possible. She even had a plan as to where she might go, but then that could change easily.
“So when do you want to talk about your plan?”
“As soon as possible,” said Shune. “Come by my room in five minutes to talk about it.” She said. They would have gone straight there to start planning, but Shune still wanted to keep her egg a secret.
Netad nodded. “Okay then.”
Shune nodded back at Netad then bolted off to her room. After shutting the door behind her Shune went over to the egg. She reached to pick it up then gasped. “Wh, what?” She asked. The egg was no longer blue with lighter blue spots. It was now a sort of bluish green with pale blue spots. An aquamarine color. Shune blinked several times before realized that she had to get the egg hid. “I’ll question about that later.” She said to herself and to the egg. “But why or what?” It was obvious Shune was confused, but she hurriedly set the egg in a drawer of her dresser on her clothes. “Sorry about this, but the others aren’t supposed to know I have you yet,” said Shune to the egg. A knock sounded as soon as the egg was in the drawer.
Still confused Shune tried not to think about the eggs sudden coloration change as she opened her door. Netad stood there with his messy green hair. “Hello.” He said. “Time to plan?”
Shune motioned for Netad to sit in the chair by the desk and she sat in another chair. “Well actually I’m going to tell you the plan and you’re supposed to tell everybody else. I want to get out as soon as we can. Tonight if it’s at all possible.”
“Okay. So what’s the plan?”
Shune told him her plan. “Well. What do you think?”
“It could work. I’ll tell the others. Do you want me to make them get ready to leave tonight?”
“I think so. Yes. We must leave tonight. If we don’t something bad may happen and I think I’ve had enough of this place anyway.”
Slowly Netad got up and went to the door. “I’ll be back in a little while with everybody’s answer as to whether they’ll be ready or not. Do they need to pack anything?”
“A small bag with only the absolutely necessary things they fell they have to take.” Shune replied.
“Right. I’ll be back soon.” Then Netad left and Shune walked instantly over to her dresser and pulled out the newly changed egg.
“I don’t mean to be a bit annoying here, but why are you suddenly a different colored egg?” Shune asked, but then she got the feeling that the wyrm inside was laughing at Shune’s confusion. “Okay. Well it’s obvious you aren’t going to tell me even if you could so I shall wait and find out. You know what though? I feel so in the dark about this entire dragon thing. I know I got that information earlier, but I suppose I might get more later.” Shune stared down at the changed egg. “You surprise me little one. That also reminds me that you do not have a name. We shall figure that out together, when you hatch perhaps?”
An hour later Netad returned and Shune gave him a small picture with instructions on it. “They’re ready to go Shune.”
Shune nodded. “Good. We shall start this at 9 pm.” Netad nodded back to Shune and left. Now all the blue haired girl had to do was wait for the time to arrive when her plan would be set into action.
It was a bit before nine when Shune started to put her clothes and other items into her backpack. She was sure to leave enough room for the new aquamarine colored egg. With her backpack on Shune took one final look around her room. Positive that she hadn’t forgotten anything she left her room and went outside to cross the grounds towards a large building. It would be a few minutes until others would be arriving. Netad followed soon after Shune and Shune walked up to a ship. A space ship it was and Shune gazed up at it happily. “Well. I’m here.” Shune muttered. She walked up ramp to the ships door entrance and after a small second passed the door opened for her. Others were starting to arrive and Netad directed them as Shune had told him.
Now on the main part of the ship, the bridge, Shune looked about trying to understand everything. It was then that she realized she didn’t really have to understand it all. The ship would most likely be like any other object and obey her ever wish. So she sat in a chair and looked about. It was a smaller ship, but it would be able to hold everybody and it was well equipped to handle many things. With weapons, defense, and a good deal many other things Shune was happy she had chosen this ship. Its name was Traveler. Shune sighed this was practically it. Once Netad reported to her that everybody was onboard, everybody accounted for then it would be time for her to try and get the ship off the ground and into space. One thing worried Shune though, well, one of many. How was Than to find them if they were out in space? She was worried about this, Netad didn’t really care for Than, Shune could tell that. She had a feeling Than didn’t like Netad as well. Shaking her head she silently wished that Than would be able to find the ship somehow, she didn’t know how, but somehow.
“Ready to go little one?” Shune quietly asked the egg who was in her backpack sitting on her lap. She didn’t get a response but she had a feeling the little wyrm inside the egg was ready for anything.
Netad walked in just then from a door off to the right side of Shune’s chair. “They’re ready. Everybody is staying in the cargo holds until we are able to sign rooms to them. I have a feelings this is going to be a long trip?”
“Yes. I think it shall be. Rooms will have to be set up soon. Is everybody onboard?” Netad nodded. “Okay,” said Shune. “Now the interesting part.” Shune closed her eyes and concentrated. First the doors to the exit opened so that the ship would be able to fly upwards. Engines started and soon they were slowly taking off. It was more difficult that Shune thought and soon it got to be even more so as something shook the ship. Shune was startled and almost lost control of the ship so that they would plummet back to the ground. Netad was instantly at the defense station and told Shune not to worry about it. Actually what was happening is that they had been caught and were being fired at. Shune went into double speed. She didn’t say a word just kept concentrating until they were outside of the building. Taking her time to get the hang of doing many things with an object at once Shune finally got it together and the ship moved faster towards space. Fires came here and there and a few robot-looking things were following them.
Trying to keep the ship in the air Shune sent a fire towards the robots. Unknown to her cords and wires were beginning to hook to her making her part of the ship. Netad peered at Shune closely a bit frightened at what was happening, but then he thought to himself that Shune could handle it he just needed to worry about his task. Another hit crashed into the ship from a robot flying behind it. As the shop hit into the side of the Traveler Shune let out a yell that sounded like she was in pain somehow. “Shune!” Netad yelled. “Are you okay?” But instead of getting a voice telling him something like she was fine on the screen in front of him it flashed to say, “I’m fine. Just help please. It hurts me when the Traveler gets hit.” The screen flashed. Netad turned away from the screen to look at Shune. A few strands of her hair poked out of a pile of cables and wires. “She’s part of the ship?” But Netad didn’t question long instead he went back to his job and even help fire at a few of the robots. With a sudden shake Netad realized by looking at the main view screen that they were finally in space. The robots were no longer following not actually being able to follow.
Slowly the ship started to turn and Shune headed away from her only known home as fast as she could. After setting a course the cords and wires slipped away from her and she fell forward onto the ground. Netad sighed everything seemed to be calm and fine now except for Shune’s sudden crash to the floor. “Shune?” He asked creeping towards her. She didn’t respond at first. Merely let out a small sound. “Shune?” Netad asked again.
“I’m fine,” said Shune. “I’m fine.” Slowly she got up and wobbled slightly. “I feel I must rest though. Get the children their rooms and alert me immediately if anything comes up.”
“Yes of course. What is wrong though?”
Shune frowned and bent to pick up her backpack. She was happy that she had put many clothes around it so that the egg was safe inside. “I never knew that would take so much. Firing, piloting, defense, staying on course. Running a ship by yourself is not a fun thing, but perhaps it was just because this was my first time doing so.” Shune took a deep breath and sighed. “I must say I was most surprised though.”
“How did you get hurt?”
“When the ship got hit? I am unsure of that one. It’s almost as if I was part of the ship, like we had a connection and whenever it was hit I felt the pain of it.” Shune took another deep breath. “I really must sleep now. I think there is a captain’s room around here somewhere. I suppose that is my room?”
“Well you’re the boss.” Netad said smiling.
Shune managed a weak smile at him and trudged off to find her room. “If they ask tell them I’m fine and if they have any questions for me tell them to give me a call. I’ll rest for a while and then I’m back to work.”
“Rest is good for you, but work afterwards I don’t think so.”
“Netad. You cannot keep me from looking out for these children. It is my job. I will protect them.”
“Just remember to look out for yourself as well.”
Shune stood next the door. She turned back to Netad and smiled then walked to find her room. It was down a couple of floors. Walking into it she found it was many times larger than her previous room had been. Instantly she went to sit on the bed. Before going to sleep though she was sure to check on the egg. “Hello there.” She said when pulling the aquamarine colored egg out of her backpack. Yawning Shune said, “We got through that, but I have a feeling that we shall be followed.” Shune’s eyes suddenly went wide and she found herself suddenly searching the entire ship for any kind of homing beacon. Finding one she quickly shut it off. “Glad I remember that.” Shune said before curling on in her bed with the small egg. “Good night little one.” In less than a second Shune was asleep and the little egg was smiling to itself almost. Its time to hatch was approaching soon and Shune could almost feel that within her veins. Soon, Shune thought, a little wyrm would be strolling the ship as they headed to their new home. Perhaps as Shune hoped, somehow Than and Syl'Onora would be able to find them.
