CHICAGO, July, 2000 -- Members of CFC-Chicago attended the area’s
first-ever Family Enrichment Retreat shortly before the YFC conference in Seattle in 2000. The
weekend provided a space for families to open up, talk and understand each other. Roles of
each family member were clarified and needs such as learning how to listen were met.
"You think you know your kids so well. ... The FER helped kids understand
our side, that we only care for them. Kids need to be given space and privacy, but parents
are liable for anything wrong that happens to them,” YFC couple coordinator Menchie
