If this single had made the top ten then Mandess would of had 16 top ten hits in a row (One Step Beyond-Sun And The Rain) which would of been some achievement. The song has a clear story line and a video that compliments it well. Contains a great vibes solo by Mike. The story told is one of a business man who drives himself to a heart attack. Another fast paced song which helps to make it another catchy tune. Based on Carls eperiences of seeing a man having a heart attack on the underground and was banned on Radio One. |

Their only number one which is written about a 16 year old who goes to the chemists to buy a pack of condoms. A classic Madness song from a classic era. Yet another creative video were they let their imaginations go wild. Part of it was shot at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach and A joke shop on Camden Town High Street. It was knocked of the top slot after 2 weeks by 'Goody Two Shoes' by Adam Ant. |

In my opinion their best single written by Carl and Chris. It reflects Carls views of his family and how his mother was an important part of the family and portrays a sterotypical view on inner city family life. It was also the bands first hit in the U.S.A. Combines great lyrics and a great tune and the result is a brilliant song. |
