I am a family man at heart and enjoy the closeness and comfort of home. Although I don't always show it, I love my family very much. Each one of you has added something special to my life. I am thankful that I have been blessed with a large and loving family.
I married Patti in 1986 and we now have three children. Ryan is 19, Matthew
is 16, and Alex
is 10.
My parents are Carl and Suzanne Boyd. My father was formerly the Director of Missions of the Pike Association of Southern Baptists in Pike County, KY. My mother formerly ran a day care center operating out of her church. In the past she was involved in the clown ministry, and I attribute my craziness to her. My parents have recently retired in Western Kentucky. My Dad continues to pastor a small church in southern Indiana.
I am the oldest child and I always admit that I'm the meanest. My sister's name is Janet
. She has two girls, Tomara
and Shalana
. They live in Western Ky. My brother's name is Carl Wayne
and he is married to Sharon. They have three boys, the oldest boy is also named Carl. Their middle son is named Cameron. The baby's name is Christian. Carl and his family live in Western Ky.
My Grandmother on my Dad's side passed away in September 2008. Her name was Ruth Boyd.
We called her Mamaw Boyd. My Papaw, James Earl Boyd died when I was very young and I have no memories of him. James and Ruth have four sons: Jim, Carl (my dad), Don and Ronnie (the twins), David and Bobby.
My mother's parents, John and Ruth Ogden are both burried in Western Ky, as is my great grandmother, Bessie Roberts. Bessie was married to Irvin Hinton Roberts who died before I was born. Irvin was one quarter Cherokee Indian and I have Native American Ancestors from his side of the family. Gramps' mother was Grandmother Crochet who I had the opportunity to meet when I was a boy.
I have several cousins, some of whom I still keep in touch with. On my dad's side there are four who belong to my Uncle Jim and Aunt Shirley: Steve, Jeff, Holly
and Malinda. Uncle Don and Aunt Ann have two: Mark and Michelle. My Uncle Ronnie had a daughter named Julie who died of AIDS several years ago. I never had the chance to meet her. On mom's side, there are two belonging to her brother, Tommy: Maya
and Chris
. Maya had an older brother, Eddie, who recently passed away.
Patti's mom, Katherine Dean,
passed away in October 2006. Patti's father, Scotty Dean, died in 1986 not long before Patti and I were married. Patti has an uncle, Steve, and a cousin, Dan.
