The skeleton is divided into to major portions, the axial skeleton and the appendicular skeletion. The axial skeleton consists of the bony and cartilaginous parts that support and protect the organs of the head, neck, and trunk. Parts included: Skull, Hyoid bone, Vertebral column, and Thoracic cage.
The appendicular skeleton consists of the bones of the upper and lower limbs and the bones that anchor the limbs to the axial skeleton. Parts included: Pectoral girdle, Upper limbs, Pelvic girdle, and lower limbs.
