Pseudotropheus Acei are fairly peaceful fish, as far as mbuna cichlids go. That is not to say that you can put them in a dank with a goldfish or guppy and expect there not to be aggression. However, for mbuna cichlids, they are one of the tamest and easiest to maintain. For beginning cichlid owners, I would definately recommenend this species of mbuna cichlid.
This species of Pseudotropheus Acei are a deep purple with yellow dorsal and tail fin. The pectoral fin may be white with some yellow in it, and the anal fin may be white as well. Male and Female Acei are almost identical in coloration except for a slight difference in the dorsal fin. Male Acei will tend to have more blue in the dorsal fin where a female dorsal will be mostly yellow. Also, the male tends to grow a lot larger then females.
My male Acei is the largest fish I have and one of my favorites. He will eat flakes fright off my finger and is usally the first to come up to the top of the tank, wanting food, when he sees me coming. He's a freaking eating machine!!!
The female is about 1/2 teh size of the male. She has had 2 successful broods.
There is one smaller juvie Acei swimming in the tank, the result of the female's first successful release.
These are definately colorful and enjoyable fish, and one of the easiest to take care of. There is very little aggression out of this fish.
