Elongation Cycle

At the beginning of the elongation cycle, the ribosome is holding the tRNA, which is bound to the protein chain
Elongation 1

Then, another charged tRNA attaches to the ribosome
Elongation 2

The protein chain then shifts from the first tRNA and bonds to the amino acid on the second tRNA
Elongation 3

The first tRNA leaves the ribosome
Elongation 4

The cycle begins again
