The crane is one of the most beautiful models in origami.  There many tales about the crane, with the most famous being that if you would fold 1,000 then you would have your wish to be cured of an illness.  The story of a girl name Sadako is one example of this tale. 

Another point of interest about the crane is that it has become internationally known and recognized as the world symbol of peace. 

Crane 1 1. Using the model of the bird base, take the left and right points and fold them in to the center.
Crane 2 2. Flip the model over again and repeat for the other side.

Crane 3 3. Reverse fold both bottom points.
Crane 4 4. Your model should now resemble this example.
Crane 5 5. Now reverse fold one of those points again, to form the head of the bird.
Crane 6 6. Hold each wing with your thumb and forefinger and slowly pull apart downward.

Crane 7 7. You now have a finished crane that should look like this.
