Fun at Kat's Craft Corner >>> Origami
>>> Frog/Fish Base
The
Frog I will show you is one of the best Origami frogs I have
seen and it is my favorite one. The main reason is because when
you are finished, you will actually be able to make your frog
jump. Then make more with your friends, and see who's frog
can jump the farthest, or who's does the best flip.
1.
First
start with a square sheet of paper with the white side
facing up. Place the paper in front of you so that it
looks like a diamond.
2.
Then
valley fold the bottom corner of the diamond upward to
meet the opposite corner and make a crease along the
edge. Unfold and do the same with the other
corners. Unfold.
3.
Now
flip the paper over so the colored side is facing
up. Hold it so it looks like a square, and valley
fold it upwards in half. Make a crease on the edge and
unfold.
Now
here is where the tricky stuff starts. If you have
some trouble, don't get upset or frustrated. Just
back up to the last step you completed and try it
again. Origami is something that takes time and
practice to be really good.
5.
Next,
push the sides in so the two small triangles on the left
side come together and meet each other. Do the
same for the right side, and make sure the entire paper
is flat.
6.
You
should end up with a single triangle that looks like it
has two layers, like the example to the left.
7.
Now
take the top triangle on the left and fold it to
the right, and make a crease down the
middle. Unfold. Flip the whole thing onto
the opposite side and do the same thing. Unfold.
8.
Now
take the left triangle and fold it upwards in half,
along the middle crease you just made. Also fold
the right triangle upwards in the same manner.
Your
paper should now look like the example on the left with
a diamond shape on top of a triangle.
10.
Fold
the left and right points in to meet at the middle
crease.
11.
Flip
the whole thing over again. Now instead of folding
upwards you will fold these triangles downwards towards
you, along the middle crease to resemble the example on
the left.
12.
Now
do the same to the other side and your paper will look
like the picture to left.
13.
Fold
the right side back to meet with the edge of the fold
you just made. This will be the base for the Jumping
Frog and Goldfish.
