It's not always family friendly but is much more current.

This is starting out to be a pretty crappy year here in Waco. We have been breaking record highs almost every day and have reached 85 degrees several times since the week before Christmas.
We had an ice storm a few weeks ago, that's about the only moisture we've had in months and months. Everything is so dry and every day I hear the firetrucks racing off to another fire.
Yesterday's fire was too close to home, within walking distance (when I was young anyway). We assumed it was started by a train but it turned out to be started by a guy who was welding. At least he came forward.
It came very close to the houses across the street from the main entrance to Texas State Technical College and was across the highway from the school our kids attend(ed). Our main concern was the Garza family, my dad's closest friend
since childhood (and one of our mall Santa's for more years than I can remember). It was literally in his backyard. Now I get how my friends and family in California feel.
