The Latest Shtuff: News About Our Lives

I am constantly forgetting to put this in reverse order. If it seems like it's been awhile since it's been updated, please scroll down to see if I messed up again :)

Wow, I've been just awful this month about keeping this updated.

Let's see here...

The 7th wasn't only Marion's birthday, it was also our wedding anniversary, 21 years.
Yay.
Feel the sarcasm.
BE the sarcasm.
Just kidding. Special occassions just aren't all that special around our house.

School started on the 19th. YAY! (sincere joy) Scott is a senior this year and Craig is in 8th grade, so they will both be having graduations. And Josh started a new job on the same day that they started school. Another YAY! (more sincere joy) He is working for Spherion-Dell here in Waco. Technically, he's Spherion for the first two months, after that he'll be all Dell. He's planning to move out soon, and of course he's planning to get a Dell too. (Wish we could.)

We have good news and bad news where our Alicia's are concerned. If you've ever been to our photo album pages you'll know who they are.
Good news first: One Alicia is expecting her first child in about 3 months.
The bad news is that the other Alicia just lost her father to one of those stupid cell phone accidents. I'm back on my bandwagon...
Cell phones and driving do not mix!!!

Cyndi is also expecting, in about 4 months. I'm looking forward to spoiling some babies, it's been years!

Oh, I'd just like to point out that my last Dr's appointment was sometime in July, and the next one is on the 30th... and I'm not going to jinx it by saying anymore, but I'm pretty happy about it : )
Now if I could just get my voice back!

Hot in Texas!!!

I can't believe my nephew is 34 years old today.
If it wasn't for the fact that I was 8 years old when he was born, I would really feel old.

Happy Birthday Wayne!!!

My dad and I went to the cemetery yesterday to visit my mom's grave. We made it as far as walking to the grave, and to the next set of graves (my grandparents and great-grandparents) before the heat got the best of us and we headed back to the car. We drove around the cemetery for a few minutes while the a/c was cooling the car down. It's a nice cemetery with lots of shade trees and the stones are interesting to look at. But then something disturbing caught our eye. The back fence is missing. It will be in place in a couple of days no doubt, you can plainly see that they are in the process of putting in a new fence with a barbed wire top to help keep out the vandals, since vandalism is a problem, but it seems like leaving the back fence completely down over the weekend defies the whole purpose. Like most of the historic areas of Waco, this cemetery goes back to 1870, and some of the area's more historic characters are buried there. It would be a shame to see any more graves desescrated. As we were leaving we noticed something even worse. There's a smaller cemetery that is situated just in front of this one (where my other great-grandparents are buried) and it is missing both the back and the side fences. A building that stood behind it has been torn down and it looks like they may be expanding this cemetery, but the digging has gone right up to, and is actually touching the headstones, and all of this cemetery is exposed to vandals. Although these cemeteries are literally on the edge of Baylor University, they are also in a neighborhood where one of the small restaurants has a fenced and gated parking lot topped by razor wire.

Isn't it disturbing that some people believe that by destroying a memorial they are somehow proving their own bravery?
