I'll be trying something different here. I've just spent an hour at Angelfire, trying to update this page and being unable to bring the page up. So I surfed to my page, viewed the source, copied it into my HTML editor, and am typing the update in here. Hopefully when I am finished I will be able to upload it using FTP and overwrite the existing page. I'm seriously going to have to start shopping for a new host.
So I've been working on that medical needs stuff for the past week or so. I've been poked and prodded and scoped and medecated and will have the results soon. I'm not going to go into all of the details here. What I WILL go into was yesterday's doctor visit, or should I say what happened after the visit. It had started out as a rough morning to begin with, but Josh and I finally made it to my appointment at the Hillcrest Medical Tower, which is next door to Hillcrest Hospital. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink after midnight, so Josh was driving in case I became light headed. Let me backtrack... As we were leaving to go to this appointment I discovered that someone had used all of the gas in my Explorer without telling me, and I had no money. Since Scott had gas in his truck we decided to take it instead. I won't even go into why Scott was home :)
So we get through my appointment, all is well and good, until we get back to the truck and the doors are locked. You see, since we were running late I had Josh drop me off at the door and then go park the truck, and he had no way of knowing that I don't have a key to open the doors of the truck. Since there was no gas in the Explorer, and Scott wouldn't have a key to it anyways, I called from the valet's phone and asked him to see if he could use grandpa's car to bring the key to us, telling him where we were at. It's no more than a 20 minute drive from home. After sitting in the bed of the truck for an hour, in 80 degree, muggy weather, and making numerous calls to both home and grandpa to try and ddetermine just where Scott was, we figured out that he was miles away at Providence Hospital. I didn't realize that David also had a key to the doors, I thought there was only one for some reason, so Josh called him at work and he came to our rescue. It was 2:00 by the time we got to grandpa's house, and still no sign of Scott. They were just getting ready to go hunt for him when he walked in the door, and yes, he had been at the wrong hospital. After about 30 minutes at my dad's house I realized that I was hours past due for my medecation so we went home.
As things finally started calming down, I looked in the corner and noticed that Georgie was dieing. If you've been to our house then you know Georgie. If you haven't, you can read about him in one of my columns from a couple of years ago, when I wrote for a group called The Women's Garden. Oh yeah, here's the link.
We'll all miss him very much.
I had planned to write so much more today but find myself unable to remember what or why.
Always remember... It costs a lot less (in most cases) to replace a car stereo than it does to replace a car window.

Angelfire has been slow loading, but working, since last night so I'll write while I can.
First off, since I am also having trouble getting anything to attach in my email, here is a little anime girl that I made from a tutorial sent out by Andrea (from LUC), which came from Island Girl graphics. I learned a lot from this tutorial, as I do with each one, but this one is one that you have to draw the graphic, so it was difficult. Like most faces I attempt to draw, (I'm not good with faces), she looks like my twin great nieces to me. I don't know why that happens.
I have learned a couple of new things because of this problem with Angelfire. I've been working on a new look for my ex-sis-in-laws family's page, but was not able to work on it in Angelfire's editor like I usually do. I have a couple of free HTML editors that I've downloaded but I've never known how to use them. I tried one that was sent out by Priscilla (from LUC) so I could view the finished page. And I've figured out how to use it. A person could get lazy doing it that way! LOL I'm sure I will be using it a lot more often, although I'm still doing most of the coding by hand. Then I had to get past that problem of not being able to upload my graphics. I have a couple of free FTP programs that I never knew how to use also, but I was forced to figure it out. The one I'm using is called FTP Commander, and it's been a lifesaver. There's nothing like working your butt off on graphics and not being able to do anything with them! It's not like you can use them in the real world...

You know, I've been with Angelfire for at least 3 years now, maybe longer, and have never been one to bitch about something that I'm getting for free. I've had a lot less trouble that a lot of people I know who have used other servers, and I've always recommended Angelfire to other people. So it makes me sad to say that I may be shopping for a new home for Ludlow's Place. I'm sure it's just coincidence that they added a pay version of their service, and suddenly the free service has gotten so bad. I spent 3 hours yesterday morning trying to change a link on one of my pages. I finally gave up and got it changed this morning, but it has taken me over 30 minutes to do something that would normally takes 30 seconds. If this is the kind of service they offer nowadays, the last thing I'd do is upgrade to their paid service! I would be scared of wasting my money by finding out that it's not just the free service that is having problems. Granted, my computer is slow, and I'm on a 56K modem, but nothing else on the net loads this slow. I have to keep clicking stop while it's loading to be able to view anything on the webshell, otherwise it won't open at all. A few minutes ago, I clicked the back button so I could save my changed link, drove Craig to school, then came back in to find that it hadn't gone back yet! I hate to break the links that other people have to my pages but I'm not seeing a whole lot of choice here.
But otherwise, life sucks, like always. I guess the big story is that Raytheon sold to a company called L-3 Communications yesterday. The deal won't be official for another 90 days. That's when we'll find out if Dave still has a job. From the description of what they do, it sure doesn't sound like they'll be needing any cabinet makers.
And then there's Scott. He was having chest pain all weekend, said it felt like a pulled muscle across his chest. It turned out to be pleurisy. At least we have insurance. Let's hope it stays that way. Just to be safe we are trying to get all of our medical needs taken care of in the next 90 days.
I'm not going to attempt to preview this before I save it. My spacebar sticks, so if there are typos... OOPS!

We had a very uneventful New Year's Eve this year. Downright "old people-ish", in fact. Josh and Scott stayed home playing Playstation, while Craig and I read a book together until he fell asleep, at around 10:30. Dave, Scott, and Craig have been rebuilding the motor in Scott's truck during Christmas break, (they should have it running tonight), sooo Dave was asleep. I woke him up when it was getting near midnight because he had insisted that I get a bottle of champagne, so I told him he could either wake up, or I could stick it up his shirt. He said he didn't believe I'd do it, but he knows me better than that...
Maybe I should have a flashback right about now...
We weren't going to be able to have gifts or Christmas dinner, or any of that traditional stuff this year. (OK, last year, but you know what I mean.)
The cabinet shop at Raytheon has been hurting pretty badly since the Sept. 11th attacks, and they don't give a Christmas bonus. We had resigned ourselves to the situation, then the motor in the truck breathed it's last breath. And since we were going to have to get a loan to rebuild that anyways, we decided to pay a couple of bills in advance, and have Christmas too.
Two days before Christmas Josh and I went out shopping. We were done within about 3 hours. That's partly because we weren't buying much, and partly because we get along very well and have the same twisted sense of humor. (And if you saw what it says on the tongue ring we got Scott, you'd know what I'm talking about!)
Everyone ended up getting what they wanted.
Our big family gift came a few days before Christmas, we all went to see "The Lord of the Rings". It was great!
We normally wait until Christmas morning to open gifts, but this year we decided we would all like to sleep in for a change, so we opened them on Christmas Eve.
I was up at 5 am the next day. We all know what they say about the best laid plans...
Craig got a new bike from his Grandpa Lange. His bike was stolen a few months ago, and since he's only 12, his grandpa wanted to make sure that he got the one thing he wanted more than anything. Scott got a stereo for his truck, his was stolen many months ago.
Wow! Sounds like we don't live in such a great neighborhood, huh?
Actually, he was at a friend's house when it was stolen. They tore the dash out in the process, so we got him the center console piece too. We had a blast teasing him about finally getting a stereo for his truck. (Remember... no motor?)
Josh got CD's, the ones he wanted the most. (Surprise.) He has probably 300 CD's now, and I'm NOT exaggerating.
Dave's doesn't sound like all that much, but it's what he wanted the most. The boys got him a set of darts that he's been eyeing. They came complete with two sets of shafts, two sets of flights, a sharpening stone, plus the case, duh. I got him a pencil holder. Okay, okay, I know that sounds bad. But it is something that he really needs, plus it's a nice one with a fishing motif. See... we have this constant problem with David's work pencils and pens disappearing. It's a BIG problem in this house. So now, if it's in dad's holder and you touch it, you're in deep shit.
The boys spent the same amount on me as they did on their dad, but mine sounds like more. They got me 3 CD's and an organizer. Since they know it's my favorite, they got me Bush's "Razorblade Suitcase". I've asked for Everlast's "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues" for a couple of years now, and they finally got it for me. It's one of the few rap CD's that I like. They also got me Smashmouth's "Fush Yu Mang". David got me a couple of sets of salt & pepper shakers to add to my collection.
So here we are all content that we had paid some of the January bills in advance and would have a little breathing room this month.
Foolish people!
We ended up replacing the heat tubes, or whatever they are called, in our furnace. They were ALL rusted completely through, and the guy says it's a miracle we haven't had an explosion.
