A witch, once part of the Lancre coven (which consisted of herself, Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg), now queen of Lancre. Married to King Verence II. Has a daughter called Esmerelda Margaret Note Spelling. Daughter of Simplicity Garlick (deceased), grandaughter of Araminta Garlick, and Niece of Yolande Garlick. Trained by Goodie Whemper. Used to live in a cottage in Mad Stoat, which is now occupied by Agnes Nitt.
Magrat is short and thin, with curly, tangled blonde hair, squinty eyes and a pointy, reddish nose. She wears a green dress.
A relentless doer of good works, she has a very open mind. She is more practical than many people think, and is a good healer.
