THE HIGH
PRIESTESS
Description
The High
Priestess sits between the two pillar of knowledge. There is a crown
on her head representative of the crowns of the High Priestess and a cresent
moon at her feet. In her arms she carries the scroll which reads
TORA and her robes the colour blue - the colour of spiritual knowledge.
There a
few points here where my interpretation differs slightly from the popular
interpretation of the High Priestess. I tend to lean towards the
thought that the TORA on the scroll is actually TAROT written backwards
and the last letter is concealed by her gown. I also think that the
colours . here are important too. The black pillar representing the
dark side and the white representing the light side or 'goodness'.
The High Priestess wearing the highly spiritual colour blue here tends
to indicate that she is balanced and in understanding that there are both
positive and negative influences in the universe, both of which have their
place. Also, the numerology references of the number here strike
me as relevant, 2 meaning balance, harmony and understanding between both
sides.
Divinatory
Meaning
The High
Priestess in a reading means that the person will have a psychic revelation
regarding a situation or will have messages brought to them from another
where the information has been received spiritually. To see this
card representing yourself indicates that you will seek a path involving
magick or the occult arts. This is generally a good card to see as
it denotes that the person will soon have the information that they need
to make their decisions. It is a card that can also represent having
intuitive dreams regarding a situation or an increased period of intuitive
awareness.
