Weston, Bristol, and Plymouth

We had an early start for the 1 1/2-hour trip up to Weston. When we arrived we met up with John (a family friend) for a drink and he offered to put us up for the night. It was then time to drive through town and see all the places I'd only seen in pictures. Watching the streets pop to life was a little eerie but also neat!

We drove past the pier, High Street, past his old house, and to a couple "landmarks." Here I am posting a letter just outside of Weston's Library. We even stopped by a house on Furland road and I wondered where I'd heard that street name before. It was Debs's house! No one was home at first but they soon came back and we had a nice cup of tea and a good visit. Those kids sure loved my accent! I couldn't get away without snapping this photograph.

After visiting Debs, we went over to Pete's flat. (Jon's mate) We tried to play a trick on him but it did not work because he heard us out the window. We had a good laugh but soon realized it was time to head to Bristol to meet up with his long-time friend Becky and watch England's first game vs. Portugal in Euro 2000!

We met up in a pub and went around to a few places watching the game. Since it quickly went downhill 3-2, we decided to get some food and coffee. It soon became a late night and we had to head back to John's for the night.

In the morning, we headed to the Commodore Hotel where Jon worked for three years. We got to see Pete again and David "EEE" the head chef. It was a good time and again eerie to finally be in THE kitchen! We went around to see if we could catch some other friends when they were home.

Soon I had to say goodbye to Weston and we headed to Dartmouth. It is another seaside town similar to Salcombe. We enjoyed the view and I had my first 99..YUM! We were sad that our final day was almost up, but the day wasn't over yet! We needed to head over to Plymouth so we could meet his friend Rob that night. We met up at the Hoghead's pub for a drink and walked down the street to a gorgeous Chinese restaurant for a lovely meal. I sure do enjoy that crispy duck! We also headed back to his dorm at Uni before heading home. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I got no pictures of the evening. *frown* We were up most of the night but I was also up in the morning because we were to meet Tom at the service station the next day, 14th June. Here I am with Jon AND Tom!

On to Tom's!
