A Day With the Staffordshire Police

On the 20th June I got to go on patrol with Tom who works for the Staffordshire Police. Unfortunately I had a pretty bad cold that day but that did not stop me from missing this! Tom's area is the Abbots Bromley Police but we also traveled to the Uttoxeter (U-Town) Station. There I met up with Seargent Chris Hutton, Alan Pickering (1st photo), and Steve Dowle (2nd photo). Alan took these pictures of me with the police vehicle.

I went around with Alan for about an hour or so before meeting back up with Tom. There was not much crime going on that day so we did some classic "foot patrol". It is not very often one sees the traditional British bobby roaming the streets anymore so that was a treat! Here is a photo of me: PC Lori!

We stopped at a pub for some coffee and tea and went to get some fish and chips, which I devoured. The most only calls that came through were for an alarm and some guinea pig protesters. The police in England are much the same but it has a different feel to it. Since they don't carry guns, I felt a lot safer. Here is Tom in his "action" pose.

Another side treat was when Tom brought me to the Fire Station as well. One firefighter was there, and he gave us a fire engine tour. The most interesting thing I thought was the mini pub inside the station!

Overall, it was a pretty good day!

To Scotland!
