Too darn hot...again!
This morning on my way to work I passed a small shrine. This morning, the notable
thing about it was that there were some small lanterns hanging outside. They'd been
painted and decorated by hand, perhaps by children. They looked very festive. Also,
there on the street outside the shrine was a portable shrine and in a room I'd never
seen open before were 3 or 4 men sitting and chatting. I wish that I could have
asked them what was happening, and what the occasion was. Only in Japan could I
not ask!
It really was hot today. I heard different reports of 35 and 36 degrees. I just
want to find an iceberg and move onto it for a couple of months. The air conditioning
in my school is patchy at times, but luckily my fan does a good job of moving the
air and keeping me quite cool. Unfortunately, the apartment isn't like that. It's too
hot there, even with all the windows open.
Classes were fine today. In my child class today we made masks out of paper plates.
It was fun. I really enjoyed it, and so did the student. We always run out of time
and I have to try to shoo him out of the room when class is done. I guess it's a
good sign that he doesn't want to go!
Anyway, I'm about out of things to say for tonight, so I'll likely catch you tomorrow.
Take care!
