May 01, 2003- Thursday

Gloriously sunny day.

I had a great day today. I went to the apartment in the morning and vegged for a while. Then I took a shower and went to S-Mall to buy my bus ticket. I was a bit worried in case they were sold out, but they weren't. I asked for it in very garbled Japanese, but the guy understood me and I got the right ticket for tomorrow.

Then I walked to the train station and bought my ticket. I got on the train and rode to Sakata. I really enjoyed the view. It's been a long time since I've ridden a train, or even been in the train station. Very enjoyable.

In Sakata I went to Daiei first. It's near the station, so I wandered around. I found some chocolate with no sugar there, a friend told me about it. I'll try it sometime when I need a fix! On the second floor I found a shirt that might fit me, but there was a woman hogging the changing room so I couldn't try it on. WhenI say that she was hogging it, I mean it. She wasn't in it...she'd leave her stuff and go and get something else to try on. She could see that I wanted to use it, but couldn't be bothered to move out of my way. I decided to put the shirt back on the rack and go.

I walked down the road to Shimizuya. It's a fair hike, but the sun was warm and the day was nice. In Shimizuya I looked around, but didn't really find anything I wanted to buy until the end. I started looking in a shoe store there, and lo and behold! I found 2 pairs of shoes that were my size, or very nearly. I tried them on and one of them fitted very well, so I bought them! They are Ecco shoes, which I've had before and really liked, so it was a good investment I think. I also got a free carry bag with them as a special promotion.

I walked back to Daiei a slightly different way, and then in Daiei just looked around some more. I didn't go back to the clothes department. I had a snack and a drink. I then went and made a print club, but there was something wrong with my picture and it looked really washed out.

Fumihiko picked me up around 5:30 and we drove to the mall. We checked out the movies and the only thing we hadn't seen yet or was in Japanese or Korean, was Dreamcatcher. I didn't really want to see it as I heard it was bad, but Fumihiko said he'd like to. So.....we went to see it. Actually, I had a good time. It started with an Animation from the Matrix (Animatrix), The Flight of the Osiris. It was excellent. Then, the movie itself was okay. It had typical Stephen King themes, boyhood friends face .... (insert here). The acting was good from the four friends, but the whole army subplot thing was a bit weird. I still haven't read the book, so maybe I'll learn more when I do.

I took Fumihiko out for dinner to a yakiniku restaurant. It was mostly good, but he ordered some weird pork thing that looked like intestines. I ate a few, but gave up on them when I got a bad tasting one. They somehow reminded me of the baby aliens from the movie we'd just seen, and that wasn't a good thing! We came home and I packed my bag with a few things for the next few days. I'll be gone for a day or two, please don't miss me too much! I'll maybe give you an update when I come back. Or not! Night night.
