June 13, 2004 - Sunday

Sunny and nice day.

Last night we stayed at the apartment, so I couldn't update. Work on Saturday was a bit slow, but okay. I did an interview and one of the kids in my early class threw a bit of a tantrum, but amazingly the kids were quiet after that.

I created a really nice dessert at the apartment too. I took some plain yogurt, mixed it with frozen blueberries, and then stuck it in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. When I took it out it was frozen solid, and a little like ice cream. It wasn't as creamy, but it tasted nice and will be a nice treat in summer I think.

We watched "The Gift" and drank coffee too. I worked on my jigsaw puzzle and got a lot done too. Yay me!

This morning I slept in very late. It was something to twelve when I woke up, to the quiet noise of Fumihiko doing dishes...bless his heart! I took a shower, we spent some time together and then we went to the Daiichi Hotel for brunch. It was okay, but not great for my diet.

After that, we went to the post office. Surprisingly, both of us had to pick up things from the post office today...on Sunday too! Isn't it wonderful, they have parcel pick-up on Sundays. I love Japan sometimes. Mine was my big box of stuff from Canada. I was happy to see it. Everything is in good condition too. Yay!

Then we went to Marica to see if I could get my hair cut. I could, but later. So I hacked around the 100 yen shop and got a few useful things and then went over to Jusco with Fumihiko. We didn't buy anything, but I made a wish list!

I got my hair cut and it looks great! I love getting my hair cut here. It takes about an hour and it's always perfect! I remember some of the bad haircuts I got in Canada and I cringe at the memories. Yuck.

We did a bit more shopping, went to get dog food for Gombei, got me some vitamins and then went back to the apartment to unload!

When we left I suggested that we get dinner, so we tried. We drove around Tsuruoka, trying to go to a French restaurant, but they were all closed! Seriously. So, I suggested Jiro, near where I used to live. When we got there and parked, I noticed that the sushi restaurant was still there and I jokingly asked Fumihiko if he'd be interested in eating my rice if we went there. He said yes, and he meant it! So, we went to Kintaro sushi, the revolving sushi restaurant. I ate the raw fish, and Fumihiko ate rice, and of course, some sushi! I had miso soup and salad too. All in all, we ate very well, and it was quite cheap!

After that, we came home and Fumihiko watched the end of a baseball game. I worked on my computer and then we ended up watching part of a Jackie Chan movie. I didn't watch it all, but there was one action sequence that had me laughing. He was in a Turkish Bath, and the "bad guys" were chasing him. He got away, wrapped in a towel. He went into a marketplace by climbing over a fence. Well, his towel got caught on the fence and he had to run. Jackie spent the next few minutes covering himself up with various things from the market. Baskets, brooms, cloths, even a newspaper! He had to fight off the bad guys and keep the movie at a family rating. It was very funny. He ended up wrapping himself up in something like a sari. Funny.

And that's my day. Tomorrow I'm off to my apartment to try to get my stuff packed up. Wish me luck!

Night night.
