August 5, 1956: David's dad Jack, married actress Shirley Jones. August 16, 1998: Patrick Cassidy's son with Melissa Hurley, Jack Gordon Cassidy, was born. August 21, 1971: The Partridge Family single "I Woke Up In Love This Morning" was released. It rose to number thirteen on the Billboards chart, where it remained for ten weeks. August 24, 1993: In the Village Voice essayist Ann Powers provided a sociological insight into how The Partridge Family speaks for Generation X. "On one level, The Partridge Family was about 1960s mores being absorbed into conventional, domesticated America," explained Powers. "The show captured the predicament of 1970s kids, the first to experience rock's rebellion as a hand-me-down." August 30, 1971: Newsweek wrote: "When he (David Cassidy)
was tapped for the Partridge role, no one even knew or cared if he could
sing - but he had sung, accompanying himself on guitar, since eleven."
CONCERT DATES 1972 Aug. 2: Saratoga, Perf. Arts Center, Saratoga, N.Y
1992 Aug. 6: Binghampton, NY
(Thanks to Alice UK and Cat for the info)
Obviously, Atomic Kitten have hit a chord with a lot of people, who have voted with their purse strings and bought the current single. And I know that musical taste is subjective and that one man's Craig David is another man's David Bowie is another man's David Cassidy. What I don't know is: what is there about Atomic Kitten to actually like? (Evening Standard, London UK)

HELP NEEDED!!! David Cassidy '70s concert DVD G'day friends from Jim! I've wanted to do this for such a long time and thought it was time I sat down and wrote something. You could say it's a "project" of mine. I'd like to create "WORLDWIDE" interest with all David Cassidy fans to banter together to get a company like Columbia Tristar to release a vintage 70's concert of David's. I know what you are all thinking that this will probably NEVER happen. We can't even get his catalog released let alone a DVD. I'm crazy I know but hey we can all give it a shot. We've got absolutely nothing to lose. I'd love to see a vintage concert of David's.....yes I want to see it all......that hair, those puka shells, those great costumes he wore, the screaming girl fans(something we won't see again today... or not that extent) and oh those songs and how he sang them then. The concerts I know that do exist: David Cassidy Live at "Madison Square Gardens" March 11th 1972
These are just a few I know that exist. I know there's heaps more footage out there from all over the world. Instead of all of us e-mailing "Columbia Tristar" how about people send me their letters via e-mail and I will colate them all together and put them in a special folder and I will personally send it to "Columbia". I need as many letters possible and from all over the world. I REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT ON THIS. I can't do this without you guys. Let's create some interest. I know many of you out there would love a DVD released. Personally I would love a vintage concert rather than a new one today. Not that today isn't special but the early '70s were a magic time. Please spread the word to everyone you know that would like something like this. All you have to do is e-mail me even if it's only a couple of lines as to why you'd love to see an old concert released and I will print them up and put them in a folder. I will also e-mail all the other sites and see if I can create even more interest. Would people be willing to spread this information amongst other fanclub sites too?? I will even let David Cassidy's site know of my plans. I really want this to happen. Sitting hoping for things to happen just wont happen. We've got to make it happen. As much as I'm looking forward to a new album by David I still want the old stuff yes you all know what I'm talking about his back catalog, a vintage concert etc. We've got to let David know what we want...we have to be heard. Anyway are we all in or what?? Start spreading the news........If anyone would be willing to help me that would be terrific. If anyone else can suggest anything else I'm all ears. THANK YOU!!!!! Jim Salamanis
TV/RADIO ALERT David will appear on the following radio stations NEW YORK stations:

David was on Vegas Night on the Travel channel on August 27. At 10pm, they did a show on the "NewVegas Entertainers". It was a new show, because David was interviewed about both Copa & Rat Pack. "Showtime Vegas" will be repeated on September 1 at 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM EST/PST. Jack Cassidy's episode of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour will air on TVLAND 8a-9a (central). The movie Strays that Shaun Cassidy helped produce will air on USA 12a-2a and 8a-10a. Both of these shows will air on 9/2/01. The first episode of The Agency, tv series that Shaun helped produce will air on 9/20-according to ads on the CBS Network. Thanks to Sarah Fuller and Cheryl Corwin who forwarded this information.
ON THE SIDE: From this little note you can see how much you can trust the Star Magazine (August 8, 2001). Witnesses said after the show that David was joking with a lot of people. The spotlight was put on Drew Carey and his date, and they were both laughing. They stayed the whole show, and supposedly he had been spotted at the party afterwards as well. I wonder where Star gets their information from. Also noted, Burger King got a new commercial in the US. The song played in the commercial is "I woke up in love this morning" performed by The Partridge Family. |
