My Room

This is a peek into my little world, circa 2002. I figure that so many things are impersonal these days that it wouldn't hurt to contribute something personal. [The sign as you enter the apartment says, "Welcome". You walk on hardwood floors, notice it to be a little chilly, but not uncomfortable. You notice the large living room decorated with framed 16x20 Black and White photographs of portraits, landscapes and figure studies. You walk up a flight of carpeted stairs, pass Dave's door (roommate #1), pass David's door (roommate #2) and walk into a large room that has a blue glow emanating from it (due to the blue lights hung along the edge of the ceiling. You notice many piles of clean and unclean laundry that permeate the floor. You notice at your feet a cage of rats The Rat's Website that have stopped what they were doing to show much affection and interest in you. You notice one large bed with my brother fast asleep on it and another that is a gigantic pile of down and flannel (this is known as a 'love cave', which means "overly comfortable bed that causes one to not want to get up in the morning" according to ancient translation. The original specimen resides to this day in Fallsdon, Maryland). You find the warm and cozy environment to be most inviting, and make yourself at home in the posh e-z chair that has scars from what appears to have been a loving cat]

[You find an array of artwork, photographs, books, musical equipment and papers with scribblings]

[You notice a newspaper cutout of an Alfred Steiglitz photograph that he made of his wife, Georgia O'Keefe. You notice a blue silk cloth draped over the actual curtains so that even daylight is made bluer. You think it a bit odd that blue is everywhere in the room, yet find it comforting, as if you were at the bottom of a warm and serine ocean. You notice a few framed photographs of people that must be dear to the person that lives here]

[You notice a few photographs of figure studies along with a recent photograph of a cabin that looks to be out of the 1800's]

[You notice a lot of notebooks along the floor near the e-z chair. They are filled with lyrics, chord progressions, scraps of poems and general insights into the meaning of Life]

[You notice a key, and wonder what it unlocks]
