:: WCW Greed Results: Page 2

For: Sunday 18th March 2001

Backstage, Jeff Jarrett continued to the Magnificent Seven's documentary, bringing the cameraman into Ric Flair's locker room. Flair said he was disgusted with Dusty Rhodes' segment tonight. Flair said that he was the CEO and he wouldn't kiss anybody's ass. He said that if anyone would be kissing anyone's ass tonight, it would be Dusty kissing his.

Backstage, Booker T cut a promo on Rick Steiner: "Rick Steiner, all the talk is over. You're talking this and talking that. Like I said before, save the drama, for your momma. Tonight, WCW Greed, for the US Title. The title that has eluded me for eight years. But tonight, it's going around my waist. And when it's all over with, I want you to remember one single thing... don't hate the playa... hate the game."

Match #6: O'Haire & Palumbo vs. Totally Buff - WCW Tag Titles
Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell entered the ring first and Luger took the microphone: "You know, when you look as good as we do, when you're built like us, when you wrestle like we do, multi time world heavyweight champion, multi time US heavyweight champion, and Buff, how many tag titles do you possess?" Buff: "At least 5 or 6!" Luger: "That's why you're totally buffed! Buff is the stuff. That's why we're the ones who did the impossible. We ended the career of the monster, Bill Goldberg, never to be seen in a WCW building again. When you possess all we possess, when you're successful as we've been, sometimes even we can become a little overconfident. That may have happened in the last couple of weeks. Sean Palumbo and Chuck O'Haire... or is it the other way around? Maybe you guys snuck up on us just a bit. Maybe you possess a little talent. Maybe, some day, you'll be as big stars as Buff and the Total Package. But tonight, you're going to find out why we're Totally Buff!" O'Haire and Palumbo's themes hit, and out came the WCW tag team champions. They quickly attacked Luger and Bagwell. Palumbo hit each of them with a Jungle Kick. Sean O'Haire climbed the turnbuckle and hit Luger with a Seanton Bomb. He then climbed the other turnbuckle and hit Bagwell with a Seanton Bomb! O'Haire pinned Luger, Palumbo pinned Bagwell, and the match was over in under a minute!
Winners: Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire

Backstage, Scott Steiner was shown doing pull ups while Midajah counted, "101, 102." Steiner then cut a promo on Diamond Dallas Page, saying that he would have to get his hands dirty with Page tonight and that it was a falls count anywhere match. Steiner said that he would chase Page through the crowd tonight if he had to.

Back in the ring, Buff Bagwell was slow to get up, pointing to his neck. However, he got up under his own power and walked off along with Lex Luger.

Match #7: The Cat vs. Kanyon
Chris Kanyon made his entrance first, along with a new theme that started with "Who's better than Kanyon? Nobody!" The Cat entered next along with Miss Jones and took the mic: "Chris Kanyon, let me tell you something, baby! I'm gonna get in the ring and I'm gonna rip that ugly ass mask off your face! Wait a minute, I'm sorry, that's not a mask, that's your ugly as face. And when I'm done with you, I'm gonna throw you into the crowd and I'm gonna let them stomp the hell out of you!" Kanyon ran at the Cat, but bypassed him and went straight to Miss Jones. However, The Cat chased him and threw him back into the ring, and the match was underway. The Cat hit a flurry of offense on Kanyon, eventually knocking him to the outside. Kanyon spotted Miss Jones on the outside and went after her, but The Cat made the save once again and attacked Kanyon. However, Kanyon nailed the Cat, rolled him back into the ring, and climbed the top rope. Kanyon hti a top rope clothesline on Kanyon, regaining control. Kanyon hit an elbow drop onto The Cat, then hit a top rope leg drop. Kanyon locked on a sleeperhold, but The Cat got out of it and pounded away at Kanyon. The Cat climbed the turnbuckle and hit Kanyon with a superplex off the middle ropes. The Cat followed up with a James Brown Elbow and a martial arts kick, but Kanyon kicked out of the cover. Suddenly, Kanyon nailed the Cat with a lowblow and went for the pinfall with his feet on the ropes and actually got the pinfall. However, the referee immediately noticed that Kanyon's feet were on the turnbuckle, so he forced the match to continue. Kanyon quickly locked on a Boston Crab, but the Cat got up and whipped Kanyon into the turnbuckle, then hit him with the Feliner! However, Kanyon's foot was on the bottom rope, breaking the pinfall. Suddenly, Miss Jones climbed up on the apron, distracting the referee. Kanyon came up from behind and knocked out the ref, then told Miss Jones to come into the ring. However, the Cat grabbed Kanyon and told Miss Jones to hit him. However, she tried a kick, but missed and nailed the Cat. Kanyon told Miss Jones to hit him, but he caught her arm. Miss Jones tried to kick him several times, but he ducked. Out of nowhere, The Cat nailed the Feliner on Kanyon, the referee got back to his feet, made the count, and the Cat is your winner. After the match, Kanyon got up and nailed the Cat with the Flatliner. He grabbed Miss Jones, but out of nowhere, Smooth's theme hit and out he came with a steel chair in hand, clearing the ring of Kanyon. Smooth, The Cat, and Miss Jones celebrated in the ring.
Winner: The Cat

Backstage, Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger argued about their match tonight while the documentary camera man taped them. Bagwell said that before they get into an argument, he's going to just get his stuff and leave tonight. Luger agreed and left. Afterwards, Buff spotted the camera man and asked him what he was doing taping the bad stuff.

Backstage in the Rhodes locker room, Dusty Rhodes mentioned that he had already eaten about 40 burritos and it would be "Smellovision" out there tonight.

Match #8: Rick Steiner vs. Booker T - US Title
Booker T made his entrance first, followed by the US champion, Rick Steiner. Rick Steiner quickly gained the early advantage in the match and continued a slow paced offensive attack on Booker T for a good part of the match early on. Rick Steiner pounded away at Booker T then played to the crowd. Out of nowhere, Booker T hit Rick Steiner with a belly to back suplex, but Rick Steiner quickly regained the advantage with a belly to belly suplex followed by a Steinerline. Steiner locked on a sleeperhold, but Booker T eventually fought out of it with a flying forarm followed by a Spinebuster. Booker T kicked Steiner in the mid section then hit him with the axe kick, or as the announcers called it, the "Ghetto Blaster." Booker T hit the Spinarooni, got to his feet and went for the Harlem Sidekick, but Steiner ducked and the referee was knocked out. Booker T tended to the ref, but Rick Steiner caught him from behind and nailed him with a German suplex. However, the referee was still out. Steiner went to the top rope, but Shane Douglas suddenly came out from the crowd and nailed Steiner in the back of the head with the cast on his injured hand. Rick Steiner was knocked down and fell into the arms of Booker T, who hit him with the Bookend for the victory.
Winner: Booker T - New WCW US Champion

Backstage, Animal was shown screaming, asking Buff what was wrong. Lex Luger walked into the locker room and say Buff Bagwell laid out on the floor. Luger asked Animal what happened. Animal said that he walked in and he saw Buff laid out. Luger: "Well, isn't that conveniant?" Animal: "What are you talking about?! I was attacked last week!" Both men stared down each other, and the segment ended.

Match #9: Dusty & Dustin Rhodes vs. Ric Flair & Jeff Jarrett
Jeff Jarrett made his entrance first with a guitar in hand. Out next came Ric Flair, along with Road Warrior Animal. Flair was dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and slacks. Dustin Rhodes entered next, followed by his father, Dusty Rhodes. However, Flair took the mic and interrupted the Rhodes' entrance: "Cut the music! You don't get it! I'm not dressed to wrestle and I'm not wrestling! The Chosen One is gonna beat the hell out of both of you himself!" The Rhodes family ran into the ring, clearing Jarrett, Flair, and Animal out. Flair grabbed the mic again and said "They want it?! They got it!" It looks like he is going to wrestle afterall. The referee said that Road Warrior Animal would have to be sent to the back, and Flair and Jarrett reluctantly agreed. Jarrett started things off with Dustin Rhodes, as Dusty and Flair waited for an opportunity on the apron. Dustin quickly gained control of the match, nailing Jarrett and crotching him on the steel ring post. However, as Rhodes jumped from the top rope, he was met with a Jarrett boot. Jarrett tagged in Flair and out came the Nature Boy. Flair hit Rhodes with several right hands, then showboated, taunting Dusty Rhodes. Flair hit his trademark chop on Dustin. Whooooooo! Suddenly, Flair allowed Dustin to slip free, and he tagged in his father, Dusty. Dusty walked in and pranced around the ring, then stared down Ric Flair. Both men locked up, with Rhodes knocking down Flair. The crowd rose to their feet and were really getting into the match. Both men stared at each other in the ring again, then once again locked up. Rhodes put Flair in the corner and hit him with several chops then hit the Bionic Elbow on Flair, then another Bionic Elbow on Jarrett, then a Bionic Elbow on Flair, then another Bionic Elbow on Flair. Great arsenal of moves. Dusty tagged in Dustin, who ran in and hit Flair with a vertical suplex, then hit Jarrett with an Inverted Atomic Drop. Dustin set Jarrett up for the Dustbuster, but Flair attacked Jarrett and broke the move up. Flair was tagged in and began to pound away at Dustin in the corner. Flair taunted Dusty again, then he and Jarrett continued to work on Dustin. Jarrett began to work on Dustin's knee, setting him up for the Figure Four. He tagged in Flair, who went for the Figure Four, but Dustin blocked it and rolled up Flair, but Jarrett broke up the pin and was tagged in. Jarrett went for the Figure Four on Rhodes, and locked it on. However, after a few seconds, Dustin turned the move around, applying the pressure on Jarrett. Jarrett got out of it and tried to lock on the Figure Four again, but Rhodes shoved off Jarrett. Both men were down on the mat as the referee began to count to ten. Jarrett tagged in Flair, and Dustin tagged in Dusty, who hit Flair with a Bionic Elbow. And then he hit Jarrett with... a Bionic Elbow. Dusty hit Flair and Jarrett with several punches, then a double Bionic Elbow. Dusty then dropped the Bionic Elbow Drop on Flair. However, Jarret broke the pin up. Dusty rose to his feet and tagged in Dustin, who hit a double clothesline on Flair and Jarrett. Jarrett suddenly hit a low blow on Dusty Rhodes, and Flair took out Dustin. Jarrett tried a figure four on Dusty and Flair tried a figure four on Dustin, but both Rhodes broke the holds. Out of nowhere, Dustin rolled up Jeff Jarrett and picked up the pinfall! Flair looked shocked and irate. Dusty: "OK! Pucker then lips up and come in here and kiss my big white ass!" Jarrett ran in to try to attack Dusty, but Dustin knocked Jarrett down and held him in the corner. Dusty dropped his pants and inched towards Jarrett, who was held in the corner by Dustin. Dusty pressed his rear end in Jarrett's face (like the Stinkface), Dusty's theme hit, and Jarrett ran out along with Ric Flair.
Winners: Dusty & Dustin Rhodes

Match #10: Scott Steiner vs. Diamond Dallas Page - WCW World Title
Michael Buffer once again was there to announce tonight's main event between Diamond Dallas Page and Scott Steiner. DDP, the challenger, was introduced first, followed by Scott Steiner, who was accompanied to the ring by his "favorite freak," Midajah. The bell rang and the main event was underway. Both men stared off against each other, with DDP spitting in Steiner's face. This angered Steiner, who went after Page. However, Page blocked and pounded away at Steiner, hitting him with a clothesline off the top rope and knocking him to the outside. DDP attacked Steiner near the announce table, then tried to whip him into the guard rail, but Steiner reversed and knocked Page into them. Steiner: "There's your DDP! There's your white trash!" Steiner continued to pound away at DDP, throwing him over the guardrail and into the crowd. However, DDP fought back, but it wasn't enough, as Steiner retained the advantage, nailing him with several weapons, including a trash can and a treash can lid. Once again, this match was a falls count anywhere match. There was a fan with crutches wearing a DDP t-shirt conveniently standing right in front of Steiner. Steiner grabbed the fan's crutch and smashed it across DDP's back. However, DDP fought back and asked for the fan to toss the other crutch. The fan did and DDP smashed it across Steiner's back, then placed Steiner on a table. DDP climbed onto a stage and jumped down on Steiner, putting him through the table. However, he only got a two count. Both men continued to battle around the arena and finally made their way back to ringside, where Steiner attacked DDP. Steiner once again got into it with a fan at ringside, shoving him in the face and calling him "white trash" over and over. They finally returned to the ring, where Steiner hit DDP with a Steinerline. Steiner went for the pin, but got up by himself to do pushups. Both Steiner and DDP were busted open a little. Out of nowhere, Steiner picked up DDP and hit him with a great T-Bone Suplex, then locked on a bearhug. DDP fought back, but was caught and hit with a belly to belly overhead suplex. Steiner went for the pin, but DDP kicked out. DDP attempted to fight back, but was caught with another belly to belly suplex. Steiner grabbed DDP and put him in a surfboard submission hold. DDP once again attempted to fight back, but Steiner overpowered him. However, Page finally did regain control with a DDT on Steiner followed by a clothesline. Page slammed Steiner's face into the turnbuckle ten times, but off an Irish whip, was caught with an elbow by Steiner. Off another irish whip, Page jumped and hit Steiner with a DDT. Page called for the Diamond Cutter, but Steiner hit Page with a mule kick, then nailed him with a DDT. Steiner picked up Page, but Page wriggled free and hit the Diamond Cutter on Steiner! He went for the pin, but out of nowhere, Rick Steiner pulled out the referee, breaking the hold. DDP ran out and nailed Rick Steiner, then turned his attention back to Scott Steiner. However, Scott grabbed the World Title from Midajah and cracked Page across the head. Steiner went for the pinfall, but Page kicked out! Page was dripping blood from his forehead all over the ring. Steiner locked on a Boston Crab, but Page managed to grab the bottom ropes to break the hold. Steiner called for the Steiner Recliner and locked it on! The referee picked up DDP's arms to see if he was out, but DDP fought back and grabbed the ropes, breaking the hold again. Midajah climbed the apron and distracted the referee as Steiner grabbed a lead pipe and and pounded away at DDP's back. Steiner locked on the Steiner Recliner again, and DDP was out. The referee called for the bell and Scott Steiner once again retained his WCW Heavyweight Title. After the match, Scott Steiner celebrated in the ring with his brother Rick Steiner and Midajah. Steiner grabbed a University of Michigan flag and placed it over DDP, then began to nail DDP with the pipe once again.
Winner: Scott Steiner

A quick recap of the PPV was shown and with that, the PPV went off the air as the announcers told us that they'd see us tomorrow night on Nitro. It should be noted that there was absolutely no mention of WCW programming being cancelled after March 26. In fact, it seemed like it was business as usual and it seemed like WCW was continuing to further angles for future shows.
