Heat Results
For: Sunday 17th June 2001
Inside WWF NY, Michael Cole and
Tazz welcome us aboard and open the show by
wishing everyone a happy Father's Day.
X-Pac & Justin Credible w/Albert VS.
The APA
-Justin and Bradshaw start things off with
deliberate basics before Bradshaw takes control
with a reverse elbow and elbow drops. Credible
surges back with a dropkick, but Bradshaw is soon
back in control. Faarooq tags in and scores a
near fall from referee Teddy Long after a slam.
Faarooq gets another near fall before Justin
scores a face plant and escapes to his corner. X-Pac
drills Faarooq with a spinning heel kick for a
near fall. Faarooq gets a two count of his own
after a back breaker and tags out. Bradshaw gets
two and then brings X-Pac to the aPa corner for
more punishment. Into the neutral corner where X-Pac
scores with kicks and Credible tags in. Bradshaw
delivers a clothesline from heck (not quite Hell)
on Justin and tags Faarooq back in. Credible
nails Faarooq with a crescent kick for two and
both men tag. Bradshaw dominates X-Pac and, when
Justin comes in illegally, Faarooq chases X-Pac
to the outside. Bradshaw powerbombs Justin and,
as referee Teddy Long tries to separate X-Pac and
Faarooq on the outside, Albert enters the ring
and drops Bradshaw with the Baldo Bomb. Albert
scoots out as X-Pac scoots in and Sean makes the
pin on Bradshaw to steal this one.
-HERE are YOUR Winners: X-Pac & Justin
Credible
At WWF NY, Terri leads Perry Saturn down a flight
of steps presumably headed for the stage, but
when she turns around to make sure he's ok,
Saturn has disappeared.
Commercial
WWF Blast of the Night: On Smackdown, WCW owner
Shane McMahon and Stacy Kiebler cost Rhyno the
Hardcore Championship at the hands of Test.
Cole reports that Perry Saturn has wandered out
of the building before he and Tazz hype WWF Tough
Enough, which will debut this Thursday on MTV
right after Smackdown.
Meanwhile, somewhere outside, a group of kids ask
Perry Saturn where Times Square is. His reply
involves squares, octagons and cheese.
Commercial
Presumably at The Gap, Perry Saturn works the
cash register and tries to charge a guy 3,875
tomatoes for a sweater. That's a lot less than
The Gap usually charges.
Bull Buchanan & The Goodfather VS. The
Dudley Boyz
-Geez, two tag team matches? They're making me
work this week. It seems the remnants of Right to
Censor continue to float aimlessly through the
universe. Bull and D-Von start with punches and
power basics before Bubba Ray tags in. Bubba
maintains control over Bull's arm, but Buchanan
avoids a splash in the corner and The Goodfather
tags in. Bubba suplexes The Goodfather and then
makes the tag. The Dudleys double team Goodfather
in the corner before Bubba scores a nice side
slam for two from referee Mike Sparks. D-Von, who
is still legal, gets low bridged over the top by
Bull. Back inside, Goodfather gets control and
tags Bull in. Bull dominates D-Von with leg
drops, but Bubba breaks up the ensuing pin
attempt. Goodfather tags in, but D-Von drops him
with a kick and both men are down. Bubba tags in
and muscles Goodfather up in a back suplex. 1-2-broken
up by Bull. The Dudleys send Goodfather to the
outside and then score the Whaaazzzzuuppp on Bull.
Buchanan rolls out as Bubba calls for the tables,
but The Goodfather puts a stop to that on the
outside. Back inside, Goodfather tries to go old
school on D-Von with the Ho Train, but D-Von
dodges and the Dudleys polish him off with 3-D.
-HERE are YOUR Winners: The Dudley Boyz
On the streets of NY, Perry Saturn is sharing a
sandwich with a homeless guy when Terri finds
them. She tries to get Perry corralled, but he
talks about the Statue of Liberty's legs and
stalks off.
Commercial
Classic King of the Ring Moment: In 1996, Stone
Cold Steve Austin coins his "Austin 3:16
says..." catchphrase after defeating Jake
"The Snake" Roberts to win the crown.
Cole and Tazz introduce a clip package profiling
the making of this year's King of the Ring main
event that will pit WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve
Austin against Chris Benoit against Chris Jericho
in a Triple Threat Match. Later in the week on
Smackdown, Austin tries to collect enough
signatures on a petition to get the match thrown
out, but Spike Dudley destroys the document when
The Rattlesnake calls Molly Holly a bimbo.
At the announce position, Perry Saturn joins Cole
and Tazz and states that, "Heat is brought
to you tonight by JR's Barbecue Sauce, because
elephants don't eat spare ribs." Terri
arrives and tries to control Perry, but he
produces an umbrella and opens it right in her
face. Tazz breaks character a bit and laughs
legit as we go to...
Commercial
WWF Slam of the Week: On RAW, The Undertaker
takes it out on Kurt Angle out of frustration
over his wife being stalked.
Cole and Tazz show a clip of the latest Stalking
Sara footage that aired on Smackdown as Kevin
Kelly was interviewing the new Hardcore Champion
Test.
Jeff Hardy VS. Taka Michinoku w/Funaki for
the World Wrestling Federation Light Heavyweight
Championship
-Apparently the best way to get a Light
Heavyweight title shot is to lose to Jerry Lynn
on Jakked. Taka says that the power of Thor will
lead him to victory tonight. Indeed! Taka starts
in control before Jeff sends him out and then
hits his trademark running along the rail spot.
Back inside, Jeff dropkicks Taka to the outside.
Jeff goes out too, but Taka dashes back in and
distracts the referee while Funaki attacks Jeff.
Back inside, Taka chops Jeff to the ground and
gets a near fall. Taka lays the sneakers in on
Jeff and the scores a nice heel kick. Taka tries
to press the advantage, but Jeff stops him with a
jawbreaker and adds a backdrop. Jeff drops the
legs on Taka's crotch and goes to the top. Funaki
tries to interfere as Taka moves to hit Hardy
from behind, but Jeff dodges (while still on top)
and Taka knocks Funaki off the apron before
collapsing himself. Jeff (STILL on top) then
follows with the Swanton Bomb and gets the easy
pin over the floundering Taka.
-HERE is YOUR Winner and STILL the World
Wrestling Federation Light Heavyweight Champion: Jeff
Hardy
>From the WWF NY announce position, Cole tells
us the brackets for the Elite Eight of the King
of the Ring are coming up next before Perry
Saturn (calling Cole "JR") interrupts
on the video wall. Perry in with the WWF NY crowd
and takes some time to dispense some nuggets of
wisdom to a few of the younger members of the
assembled. Terri arrives and grabs Perry, begging
him to at least be able to end the show together.
Commercial
Cole and Tazz hype King of the Ring and then
reveal that the brackets for the Elite Eight are
as follows...
Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy
The Big Show vs. Christian
Rhyno vs. Tajiri
Perry Saturn vs. Edge
On the WWF NY stage, Terri comes out with Perry
Saturn trailing behind. Terri tries to be
reasonable, but Perry grabs her swings her around
a bit and than lets loose with, "Watermelon
have lips so they can kiss froggies." Simply
stunning.
Good Night Everybody!
