2002 RULES [ General Rules ] [ Late Models ] [ Sportsman ] [ Factory Stocks ] [ Pro 4 ] [ Stock 4 ] Limited Late Model Rules 1.
Body: Must be made of steel, aluminum or fiberglass. The body must be
completely and neatly painted. Car numbers of contrasting colors must appear on
both doors and the roof of the car. Numbers must be at least 18-inches tall and
4-inches wide. The number on the roof must face the outside of the track. A 6 x
1-inch white number must be located on the upper right hand corner of the
windshield. Nosepieces are required. Made for racing or aftermarket components
are required. Full windshields and rear windows are required, must be made of
Lexan only. Plexi-glass and glass is not allowed. The drivers’ compartment
floor pan must be made of steel and welded in place. The drivers compartment
must be made of steel and separate the driver from the engine compartment,
trunk compartment, fuel cell, fuel lines and oil system. No flattened, square
corner or 90 degree panels are allowed. Smooth round corners are required. A
Rear spoiler is allowed, clear Lexan or Plexiglass only. See body design
requirement sheet. 2.
Brakes: Working four (4) wheel disc brakes are required. Proportioning
valves are allowed. Brake floaters are not allowed. 3.
Carburetor: Stock 500 cfm Holley model 4412 with 1 11/16-inch maximum base
only. Alterations to the choke horn, butterfly shaft and butterfly shaft
removal only. A 1-inch spacer may be used. Air cleaners are mandatory. 4 x
14-inch maximum allowable and may protrude through the hood for clearance
reasons only. 4.
Coolant: Water is the only coolant allowed. 5.
Clutch: Racing clutches are allowed. Cars not having a reduced diameter
clutch assembly must have a steel safety-shield. Dry clutches only. 6.
Drive shaft: Must be painted white and have front and rear drive-shaft hoops
made of steel strap. Chains are not allowed. Aluminum drive shafts are not
allowed. 7.
Engines: 360 cubic inch maximum. Cast iron blocks and heads only.
Aluminum heads are not allowed. 12.5 to 1 maximum compression ratio. Roller
camshafts and roller lifters are not allowed. Roller rockers are allowed. Aluminum
intakes are allowed. Ported/Altered heads are allowed. Dry sump oiling systems
are not allowed. Accusump and single stage external pump system are
allowed-must be covered to protect the driver. 8.
Engine Location: The forward most spark plug must be within 1-inch of the
centerline of the adjacent ball-joint on all frames. The centerline of the
crankshaft must have no less and 10 ½-inches of clearance from the ground. 9.
Exhaust: Headers are allowed. The exhaust system must be completely
sealed and exit behind the driver for safety purposes. Mufflers are mandatory.
Maximum allowable noise level is 100 decibel. 10. Fire extinguisher: Mandatory. A 5 lb. ABC type
extinguisher securely mounted in easy reach of the driver and track officials. 11. Fire Suits: Mandatory. Must be in
good/safe condition and worn during all events. 12. Frame: Minimum wheelbase of
101-inches. Frames must be complete fabricated of minimum 2 x 3-inch/.095 wall
thickness tubing or have stock front sub-assembly. 13. Fuel: Pump gas only. 14. Fuel System: Fuel Cells are mandatory.
Must be in a steel container mounted securely to the car frame. Fuel lines
cannot pass through the driver’s compartment. The gas cap must be secured to
the car by a chain. Electric fuel pumps are not allowed. Minimum of 8-inches of
ground clearance. 15. Helmets: Mandatory. Must be Snell 95
approved and in good/safe working condition. Must be worn during all events. 16. Hoods: Must be securely fastened. 17. Ignition System: Battery operated systems
only. Magnetos are not allowed. 18. Mirrors: Mirrors are not allowed. 19. Neck collars: Mandatory. 20. Radiators: Any type may be used.
Nosepiece and hood may not be altered to fit radiator onto the car. The
radiator must be mounted in front of the engine. A one (1) gallon overflow can
securely mounted in the engine compartment is required. 21. Rear End: Quick change and floaters
only. 22. Roll Cage: A full roll cage made of 1
¾-inch diameter .095 wall thickness steel tubing is mandatory. Must be gusseted
on all corners and braced front and rear. Four (4) sissy bars are required on
the drivers’ side of the car with an 18 x 24 x 1/8-inch steel plate welded to
it and to the roll cage for driver protection. Roll cage padding is mandatory on
bars near the driver’s head. 23. Rub rails: Allowed. 1 x 1-inch maximum
tubing only. Must be securely mounted to the body with carriage bolts. Must
have capped and rounded ends. Kick outs are not allowed. 24. Seat: Steel Racing seats are
mandatory. Must be securely mounted to the frame or roll cage. 25. Seat belts: A Five (5) point system is
mandatory. Quick release lap belt securely mounted to the frame and roll cage
is mandatory. Must be coded and dated. Maximum age of the belt system is 5
years old. 26. Shocks: One (1) shock per wheel.
Racing and adjustable shocks are allowed. 27. Shock claim rule: $100.00 US currency per
shock. Only drivers eligible to claim or being claimed are those competing and
finishing the feature event. Claim must be made within five (5) minutes of the
completion of the feature. Claim must be given to the Tech Inspector. Refusal
to sell the shocks will forfeit all points and winnings for the night. 28. Starters: All cars must have a working
starter at all times. 29. Suspension: Tubular upper A frames and
rack and pinion steering is allowed. Cast iron or steel spindles only. Aluminum
spindles are not allowed. Driver operated weight transferring devices are not
allowed. One (steel) spring-loaded rear suspension device is allowed. Rubber
suspension mounts are OK. Wide-five hubs and rims are allowed. Computer
controlled and or hydraulic operated traction devices are not allowed. Minimum of 5-inch diameter coil springs for
the front, 4-inch for the rear. 30. Tires: Hoosier Sportsman 27/8/15 or
26.5/8/15 in any combination only. 31. Transmission: Must have a minimum of two
(2) working forward gears and one (1) working reverse gear. Quick-change
transmissions are allowed. All other made for racing transmissions are not
allowed. 32. Tow Hooks: Mandatory. Securely mounted
on the front and rear of the car. 33. Weight: a.
Stock
front sub cars: 2850 lbs with the driver before the race. b.
Coil-over
front sub cars: 3000 lbs with the driver before the race 1. 30 lbs of weight must be securely mounted on both sides of the
front frame between the bell housing and front motor mounts. Total of 60 lbs. c.
Tube
front suspension cars with stock lower control arms with 5-inch or 5 ½ -inch
coil springs must secure 15 lbs of weight to each side of the front sub between
the bell-housing and front motor mounts and weigh 2850. d.

Racing Club officials may adjust the weight of cars to even the competition if
necessary. 34. Wheels: (8) Eight-inch maximum width
made for racing wheels only. 35. Window nets: Approved driver side window
net with a quick release mechanism securely mounted to the roll cage is

Maximum nose angle 30 degrees Deck-lid: The top surface of the deck-lid must not be dished. The deck-lid
height must be no lower than the top of the quarter panels. Fenders: A minimum of ½ radius is required on the top of the fenders. No
sharp 90-degree breaks allowed. The rear fender flap immediately behind the
rear tire must gradually angle up from a minimum ground clearance of 6-inches
to 8 inches at the rear of the car. The width of the fenders must gradually
taper from their maximum width at the wheels to the rear of the car. Straight
panels or abrupt kick-in just before the rear of the car is are not allowed. Rear Filler Panel: Mandatory. It must be made of a solid material. Minimum height
of 15-inches x the body width. The filler panel must be vertical (perpendicular
to the ground) mounted to the deck-lid and directly beneath the base of the
spoiler. |
