If there are any bandos out there who are creative, crazy, or just want to have a fun time competing for the good of the band, sign-up! The band gets money for getting in 1st, 2nd, or third place.
Events are January 14-19 and include Tree of clothes (bring in old clothes to donate), Penguin Bowling (Bowling with Mittens), Window Painting (creative window design), Flurryman building (snowman building using creative materials), Trivia Challenge (questions), Find the Flurry Guy (hidden around campus), Flurry Olympics (physical test of skill).
We ended up in second last year and I believe we could be in first if you all join in and add your creative juices to the mix. Start thinking about this and sign-up will be coming soon!

Bandos will be grouped in groups of four and will be asked to do various things around MU and take photos of these crazy acts. Price is approx. $5-6.   First of all, there are signups for Big buddy/Little Buddy. This is a great way to make the freshman feel welcome and to show them what band it all about. Freshman will be "teamed up" with an upper class bando and will be shown the ropes. I would like to have Big/Little buddies assigned by the freshmen picnic, sept 8, so sign up soon.

There is also a signup for the Briggs and Stratton Al's Memorial Walk/Run. This is an event run by the Children's Hospital for a great cause, to help this hospital care for the medical needs of children. It is September 22, 10:30 am and starts at the AMU. You can walk or run, so don't be afraid if you are not in olympic shape. The cost is $13 and you get a spiffy t-shirt. If 30 people signup (which would be great!) We get our band logo imprinted on the back of the t-shirts. Please pick up a form and hand your money directly to Jes or Meghan by Wed. Sept, 5.

And, last, but not least, the annual Freshmen picnic is being held on Sat. Sept 8 at approximately 11:00 am. It is being held at Mitchell Park site #3, the same place as last year. This is a great way to meet all the freshmen and to have some crazy bando times. The cost is $3 for non-freshmen and $2 for freshmen (don't you guys feel special?) There is also a signup for this in the VT, so let us know if you can drive and if you are coming.

The first Highlander of the year will be taking place the same day as the picnic. It is at 9:00 pm (regular party time) and takes place at the band house, or The House. Please take a L.I.M.O so that you will all get there safely. More updates about the Highlander will be coming. If you have any questions about any of the upcoming events contact Jess (347-1132 Jessica.Chapman@mu.edu) or Meghan (244-0218 MeghanRoot@yahoo.com)
