My Dad - A Legacy of Love

You walked so quietly among the noise and haste Not on carnal ways your life to waste For in a world of violence and disgust In a higher power you placed your trust

It is difficult to imagine what you must have gone through As the world around must have tempted you It is impossible to imagine how I would have faired Had you not been there, had you not cared

Yet in many ways unknown to me You carried out your destiny Relying on faith you stood so tall With sacrifices so many and rewards so small

Amazingly, in times of personal crises You searched for new challenges, more sacrifices For some small way to help someone As if it isn't enough - all that you've done

Now as the autumn of your life draws near Your words have been spoken, your thoughts made clear And those who have known you do firmly attest You are not just a man, but quite simply the best

May you somehow realize your values, your ways As they are passed on to others that they truly convey The essence of life in its purest expression For you have given to others life's greatest lesson

With more value than riches, A Legacy of Love Will always shine brighter than the stars above Although I'm not worthy, my prayer will be That others will find part of you in me
