I know I can place it, I know who
He follows me here, he follows me everywhere
Touching my heart and soul, maybe even you
The structures I pass and buildings I see
Send many chills, I won't mention the tears
In a way I feel he lives again through me
Just to let you know, he sends his love
I'm led not to mention, but announce
He looks forward to seeing us, soon above
Literally follow, I salute where he saluted proudly
Being dropped constantly on ground he also dropped
Singing and sounding off with his help loudly
Standing with me, he considers it a favor
From his last, a vowed promise with Navy values
His name will go on, and now, so does the Sailor
to e-mail Michael aboard the
USS John Paul Jones
Heartaches Are Healed by the Sea
The sidewalks I march and sometimes walk
I know he continues to live forever
I feel I know because I follow his steps
To whom it may concern, I stand tall here
Written by my son, Michael, while stationed at Great Lakes Navy Base in
memory of his grandfather. Michael is pictured here along with the
USS John Paul Jones to which he is now assigned. Ironically, my father,
(My Dad - A Legacy of Love), a Navy pilot in WWII, also received his
training at Great Lakes some fifty years ago.
