In Memory of Bryan Knowles 1965 - 2001

The On-Line Memorial Service

The text of the on-line memorial was kindly collected and sent to me by HelenWheels.

AliBaba: Thank you all for being here - even those of you who didn't know about Bryan - it's nice to see the people I care about here while I have the chance to say, I've enjoyed all of you in the past and know I will again -

AliBaba: and just thanks for being who you are, if that's not too glurgey

IrateDwarf: Are you leaving Ali?

BevRly: Not glurgy at all--I feel the same

AliBaba: no, I mean, Bryan not being here anymore makes me conscious of wanting to tell those still here that I care, you know?

JonnyT: aah

IrateDwarf: Yeah

IrateDwarf: That's sweet of you

HelenWheels: I understand entirely, Ali.

BevRly: Do you think Bryan knew how much he meant to us all?

birdman: I think so

HelenWheels: And if the feelings are real, it's not glurge.

birdman: lou said she read our e-mails & cards to him

birdman: and he smiled, I don't remember if he spoke or not

AliBaba: I think so - I hope so. but one thing I'm sure of - love warms you like a fire - you can't not feel it, unless you suffer from depression which Bryan didn't

Ingeborg: depression...tell me about it :(

AliBaba: yes...I know people who suffer from it, that just can NOT believe people care about them - it's so sad

HelenWheels: I think Bryan knew that people cared about him, and accepted that gracefully.

IrateDwarf: After hearing all of this, I reall wish I could have met him in person

AliBaba: well, thanks again, Helen, for the great idea and the very wonderful words - I gotta go make my kids dinner, so I'll be BAIB

HelenWheels: I too, ID

birdman: I wish I could meet any of you :)

IrateDwarf: However, if there is a heaven or an afterlife, I feel I'll see him there

HelenWheels: Take care, Ali - see you soon.

BevRly: bye Ali

JonnyT: bubye ALi

JonnyT: ID - me too

IrateDwarf: See ya later Ali

ROBERT_BAK: See you Ali...

Ingeborg: bye Ali, take care

Tengu: Cheers, Ali

At this point, the conversation started sliding, and picked up some serious downhill speed until nuggie commented, rather appropriately:

nuggie99: wow, this went far from the primrose path to the path of perdition quickly

What I don't understand is why it went downhill after Ali left... she's usually the instigator in these sort of things.

At any rate, I want to thank the people that participated. I really felt like Bryan was there "lurking" in the room with us. Thanks for giving me somewhat of a sense of closure. Trite or not, it works for me. Thanks.

Rest in peace, Bryan.
