My Ancestors Photo Album

Welcome to my online ancestor photo album. You won't find a lot of fancy graphics here, other than the background page, which is borrowed from MarvelCreations. You will find a link to her pages (all zillion of them) below. The separator bars are borrowed from Pat's Web Graphics, and you will find a link to her site below also.

Over the years, I have delighted in collecting pictures of my ancestors. Many of them are framed and grace the walls of my home office, gazing down at me (hopefully, in more ways than one).

Feel free to link to this page, but PLEASE do not "BORROW", nor link directly to, these photos for use on YOUR website. I think that's the height of tacky.

Crawford Ancestor Pictures

My great-great-grandfather James Crawford

Crawford brothers,
Joab, John and Great-grandfather James, taken ca 1862

My Grandmother, Callie Crawford Smith, and brother John

My grandmother's brother, James Hual Crawford (Uncle "Tobe")

Nobody knows who this Crawford man is. If you recognize him, please let me know. His photograph was in my grandmother's "picture box".

So, my grandmother Callie married Richard Hamilton "Ham" Smith, and they became the parents of fifteen (yes, fifteen) children. I will begin here to show those Smith pictures I have been able to obtain thus far.

My Smith Ancestor Pictures

This is "Ham" and Callie Smith, with their first eight children: Glover, Elmer, Edith, Vallie (in Grandpa's lap), Floy, Warden, Mae (in Grandma's lap) and Helen.

This is some of the children not included in the previous
photograph. Carl, Flonnie, Bernice and Filmore (my dad), the baby.

This is Callie with H. G., the baby, and my dad (whining).

This is a picture of Grandma and all her children except James Garland, who died in his sleep at about six months. I think this was made about 1924, just after Grandpa died in Ware County, Georgia.

Here is a photo of my dad and his younger brother H. G., visiting their dad's grave, made after the family came back to Cobb County in the fall after Grandpa died.

This is Grandma and "her boys" as she called them, made about 1933 in front of their home in rural Marietta. The "boys" are H. G. (in front), Filmore (my dad), Carl, Glover, and Hoke.

Groover Ancestor Pictures

My great-great-grandfather, Oliver Lewis Groover, and his second wife, Martha Murdock.

My great-grandfather, Andrew "Andy" Groover

My grandfather, "Coley" and his oldest sister, Bell Groover Conroy, who lived to be 100 years old.

My grandfather's sister, Lillus Groover Campbell

More of Grandpa Coley's siblings - Adger, Bell, Pauline (front), brother Lenward and Coley (back)

My grandparents, Lewis Coleman Groover and Annie Kendrick Groover, holding their first two grandchildren (about 1932).

My mother, Helen Marie Groover Smith, and her older sister, Annie Lou (pouting)

My mother and her brother Ralph Marion ("Son") Groover

Next installment: My Parents - Thomas Filmore Smith and Helen Marie Groover's 57 years together - Here's a preview:
