Gannon Teke Running For Mayor!!

Rick Filippi Wins Primary!!

Here is the story as taken from the Spring Discourse:

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the voters as well as my supporters and volunteers. Without your votes, hard work and shared vision for Erie's future we could not have succeeded. I promise to work hard to unify the Democratic Party and reach out to Republicans and Independents. Together we can make the vision a reality." - Rick Filippi (taken from rickfilippiformayor.com) (excerpt from May 19th Erie Time-News article) It's official, Erie City Councilman Rick Filippi has won the Democratic nomination for mayor, defeating a council colleague, Chris Maras. On primary night, Filippi unofficially won by 244 votes, but Maras said he wouldn't concede until the official count on Friday. In the official count, Filippi gained votes, winning by a 281-vote margin. Filippi, 35, a lawyer and businessman who is completing his first term as a city councilman, said he was "pretty confident" that the official count would uphold his victory. "I'd like to reach out to all my opponents to try to reunite the Democratic Party," Filippi said. "I think that's going to be important." -By George Miller (Erie Times-News)
