How Do We See God's
Angels? How Do They Look?
God's Angels Appear In Dreams, In Visions,
In Person.
God's Angels appear in sleep, in deep prayer,
in extreme circumstances, and in everyday life.
To understand the differences in God's angelic
beings, look around. God likes variety. Everything He created is different
in some way. Even the angels. Sometimes they have wings, sometimes they
are like fire. From
reading
many Scripture references, it appears that angels are not confined to any
specific form or shape, but assume various forms and appearances according
to the nature of the work they are required to perform and the will of
God. In many instances they behave and act just like we do. They sit, stand,
look like women, look like men, talk, eat and sing. In other instances,
the Bible describes them as being spirits, wind and fire.
Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget
to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained
angels."
1 Kings 19:5 "Then as he lay
and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to
him, 'Arise and eat.'"
Matthew 1:20-21 "But while
he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him
in a dream, saying, 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to
you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for
He will save His people from their sins.'"
Matthew
2:12 "Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not
return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way."
Matthew 2:13 "Now when they
had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream,
saying, 'Arise, take the young Child and his Mother, flee to Egypt, and
stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child
to destroy Him.'"
Matthew 2:19-21 "Now when
Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph
in Egypt, saying, 'Arise, take the young Child and His Mother, and go to
the land of Isreal, for those who sought the young Child's life are dead.'
Then he arose, took the young Child and His Mother, and came into the land
of Israel."
Isaiah 6:1-7 "In the year
that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted
up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim;
each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered
his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: 'Holy,
holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!'
And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out,
and the house was filled with smoke. So I said: 'Woe is me, for I am undone!
Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I swell in the midst of a people
of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the Kikng, The Lord of hosts.' Then
one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he
had taken with the tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth with it,
and said: 'Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away,
And your sin purged.'"
Daniel 8:15-19 "Then it happened,
when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly
there stood before me one having the appearance of a man. And I heard a
man's voice between the banks of Ulai, who called, and said, 'Gabriel,
make this man understand the vision.' So he came near where I stood, and
when he came I was afraid and fell on my face; but he said to me, 'Understand,
son of man, that the vision refers to the time of the end.' Now, as he
was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep with my face to the ground;
but he touched me, and stood me upright. And he said, 'Look, I am making
known to you what shall happen in the latter time of the indignation; for
at the appointed time the end shall be.'"
Numbers 22:20-27, 31-35 "And
God came to Balaam at night and said to him, 'If the men come to call you,
rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you - that you
shall do.' So Balaam rose in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went
with the princes of Moab. Then God's anger was aroused because he went,
and the Angel of the Lord took His stand in the way as an adversary against
him. And he was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.
Now the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn
sword in His hand, and the donkey turned aside out of the way and went
into the field. So Balaam struck the donkey to turn her back onto the road.
Then the Angel of the Lord stood in a narrow path between the vineyards,
with a wall on this side and a wall on that side. And when the donkey saw
the Angel of the Lord, she pushed herself against the wall and crushed
Balaam's foot against the wall; so he struck her again. Then the Angel
of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place where there was no
way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. And when the donkey
saw the Angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam's anger
was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff." "Then
the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing
in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and
fell flat on his face. And the Angel of the Lord said to him, 'Why have
you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand
against you, because your way is perverse before Me. The donkey saw Me
and turned aside from Me these three times. If she had not turned aside
from Me, surely I would also have killed you by now, and let her live.'
And Balaam said to the Angel of the Lord, 'I have sinned, for I did not
know you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases You,
I will turn back.' Then the Angel of the Lord said to Balaam, 'Go with
the men, but only the word that I speak to you, that you shall speak.'
So Balaam went with the princes of Balak."
Daniel 10:5-7, 9-11 "I lifted
my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist
was girded with gold of Uphaz! His body was like beryl, his face like the
appearance of lightening, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet
like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice
of a multitude. And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men that were
with me did not see the vision; but a great terror fell upon them, so that
they fled to hide themselves." "Yet I heard the sound of his
words; and while I heard the sound of his words I was in a deep sleep on
my face, with my face to the ground. Suddenly, a hand touched me, which
made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. And he said to
me, 'O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to
you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.' While he was
speaking this word to me, I stood trembling."
Zechariah 5:9 "Then I raised
my eyes, and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in
their
wings;
for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket
between the earth and the heaven."
Ezekiel 1:5 "Also from within
it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance:
they had the likeness of a man."
Daniel 9:21-23 "Yes, while
I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision
at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time
of the evening offering. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said,
'O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. At the
beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to
tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and
understand the vision."
Revelation 14:6 "Then I saw
another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel
to preach to those who dwell on the earth -- to every nation, tribe, tongue,
and people."
Genesis 18:1-2 "Then the Lord
appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the
tent door in the heat of the day. So he lifted his eyes and looked, and
behold, three men were standing by him, and when he saw them, he ran from
the tent door to meet them, and bowed himself to the ground."
Psalms 104:4 "Who makes His
angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire."
God's Angels come as a result of prayer
and belief in God.
A
simple and powerful way of prayer is:
1. Say Thank You. Be grateful and thankful.
Speak to God who sends His angels. "Father I thank you for the angels
you have sent before me . . ."
2. Ask. Be specific.
3. Believe. Trust that if what you are
asking for is the right thing for you, then it will happen in the right
way at the right time. Expect positive results.
4. Let It Happen. Allow God and God's
Angels to do Their work.
