Connections Help/Fix |
Some people seem to have problems hosting games and the game not showing
in the C&C Generals lobby.
We have seen this with Linksys Routers, although this could happen
with other router/firewalls.
Basically Linksys routers are filtering outbound UDP traffic.
One way to address this is enabling DMZ for one of the computer behind
the router/firewall.
Please NOTE that DMZ only will enable one computer behind the firewall
to receive and
send direct traffic to the internet, therefore only that computer behind
the router will be able to host Online Games.
However the other computers will be able to join the game normally.
To do this, select the computer that will be your host computer and
start C&C Generals.
Then go to the Options menu and take note of the LAN IP address.
Now exit the game and open the Internet Explorer and go to the configuration
tool of your router.
In the Linksys the default address is http://192.168.1.1
Click in the tab Advanced Settings, and then click again in the tab
named DMZ Host.
Now, complete the DMZ Host IP Address with the LAN IP address that
you got form the C&C Generals Options Menu.
Click Apply.
Start C&C Generals in this machine and go to the Options Menu again
and click in Refresh NAT and the in Accept.
Log in online and create your game, everyone in your LAN and Online
should be able to see and join your game.
DMZ works in the same way in other Firewall/Routers and the procedures
to set it up are very similar.
Please check the documentation of your router/firewall to learn how
to enable DMZ in your hardware. |
